Best the drum of #RankAppState on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Be the squeaky wheel. The AP and coaches poll voters are human.

Has App State ever received votes in the AP poll before? I don't remember any. 34 in the Coaches poll is awesome! Beat Arkansas St!

We were the 1st 1-AA/FCS school to ever receive votes. After Michigan, the AP changed their rules to be all division I schools are eligible... aka the “Appalachian Rule”.87ASUgrad wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 3:06 pmHas App State ever received votes in the AP poll before? We have received votes several times since then.

If we get through stAte, Stink and Troy while those three teams remain constant, I'd have to think they'd at least give us 25th by season's end. They would have to be considered quality G5 wins.

Re: APP STATE up to 25 Votes Top 25 coaches poll
App State is #40 on the AP poll with those 2 votes this week. This Looks Great to see that block "A" that we love on there finally (link below). Hey we are tied at #40 with that other ASU team that the dude from UW got us mixed up with last weekend. Thanks again Moonshine for sharing this site with us all. Now beat Arky State next and we will continue to rise each week.

I see we are one spot ahead of our alter-ego, which is still paying for its loss to Washington.87ASUgrad wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 6:52 pmApp State is #40 on the AP poll with those 2 votes this week. So, if I'm reading the poll correctly, one of the two votes is Eric Hansen from the South Bend (IN) Tribune, who has us at #24. We're getting more love from Fighting Irish Land than our own state...where's the love NC sports writers?

Re: APP STATE up to 25 Votes Top 25 coaches poll
Said this before and I'll say it again: If we keep winning, we'll be ranked at least in the coaches' poll long before the end of the season.
My hope (aside from running the table of course) is that we'll get ranked before the CFP rankings come out, since once that happens all the networks use those and ignore the AP and coaches' polls.

If McSorley tucks it instead of throwing it after he crossed the line late against OSU , maybe they would be sitting at #3, which would have made our case a bit stronger. He played one heck of a game but I bet that haunts him for a long while.

Sure. A voter in the mid west gives us credit for playing Penn St. close. Voters in our region know how bad (record wise) the teams we beat are. Ahhh, that So. MIss game...

Re: APP STATE up to 25 Votes Top 25 coaches poll
Here is a method a blogger came up with to get rid of poll bias that exists in Coaches and AP. Beats the heck out of the BCS method, and is probably much more fair than the current College Football Rankings that come out later in the year.
David Burge @iowahawkblog
"If you haven't been following, here is how it works:
1. Each P5 team + Notre Dame start with 200 marbles; other FBS teams start with 100 marbles; non-FBS teams start with 0 marbles
2. win at home, take 20% of opponent's marbles; win on the road, take 25% "

Remember 6 years ago when people were afraid of moving up to FBS?
And now Penn State, Auburn and Texas A&M games directly impact and matter to us? Love it.

Re: APP STATE up to 25 Votes Top 25 coaches poll
Pete Fiutak was just on WFNZ and said App State should absolutely be taken seriously and suggested we should be ranked. He said we should be rooting for UCF to lose and position ourselves for NY6 (no news there), but I like hearing National guys give us the respect we have deserved.
He did proceed to discredit UCF for their weak schedule..... if we remain a G5 school long term and become a top tier G5, I hope we continue to schedule as many tough OOC games as possible. Nothing to brag about regarding our schedule this year outside of Penn State, but our 2019 slate is nice (minus Chapel Hill. UCFs toughest matchup this season is SF and Cincinnati.... I almost equate those two games to our one game versus a top 10 at Happy Valley.

Re: APP STATE up to 25 Votes Top 25 coaches poll
I agree on scheduling tough OOC games although it can be difficult to achieve unless the AD schedules all blue bloods. It’s hard to tell which programs will be good next year, much less 3-6 years out when games are scheduled to be played. I’m of the triple AAA mindset, anybody, anytime and anywhere even if it means only 5 home games during the regular season. My caveat to this 5 home game scheduling philosophy is that at least 2 of the OOC games must be close by so fans can easily travel to see App play. My preference would be two A5’s teams and two G’s. Some years it may work out where App gets 6 home games if we can host an A5 but in the years where it’s only 5, make/host the SBC for that 6th game in KBS.

Watching #23 South Florida & Tulsa (1-4) tonight. Tulsa is up 24-10 late in the 3rd quarter. Also, they just showed some Tulsa fans in the stands and they had stadium cups and I bet there was ice in them too. Ain't they lucky! Go Golden Hurricane...just because is helps App State!moonshine wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 12:54 pmSome games of interest:
