App State received 25 votes in this week's poll. Up from 13 last week. I know, I know, some of you don't care about polls...
Beat South Alabama!

Im still trying to figure out how VT is ranked. Im sorry..... you lose to an 0-3 team... you don't get a 25 ranking. Also how is North Texas not getting more love? That is a good team right there!
VS SMUM W, 46-23
VS INCARNATE WORD W, 58-16
AT ARKANSAS W, 44-17
AT LIBERTY W, 47-7
That's nothing to sneeze at.

I think much like the argument against us, North Texas doesn't have a quality win. Yes, Arkansas is a name. But they are beyond horrible. Liberty is garbage. Incarnate word is basically a D2 school. And I don't even know what a SMUM is. I do agree with you that the Hokies don't deserve a number. Especially now that you consider how lousy the Florida State win was.

Should have been SMU. Arkansas is still an SEC team. Regardless of how bad they may be... still a good win.

Good progress. Strange that we’re getting that many votes in one poll and still none in the other. Nonetheless, that’s how we get ranked - handle our business while the Virginia Techs and BCs of the world crap the bed.

I’m going out on a limb and say if Penn State wins sat against Ohio state we may be very close!

There are two teams that I would not want to be playing this year... one is Alabama... the other is Ohio State. Penn St better bring their "A" game...

The answer is the Coaches Poll is kind of nonsense towards the bottom. Look at the AP: North Texas is getting votes there and Va Tech isn't ranked.

Unofficially ranked 38th overall, up 1 spot from last week.

If this team stays focused, which I believe it will, they will win out and end up ranked in the top 25 for the bowl game.

Let me preface this by saying I don't believe App has done enough to garner a top 25 ranking and it's still very early in the season so all this will change. However, I do want to point out a few instances of obscene bias shown in the AP poll.
One AP voter (Neil Ostrout) put VT at #12 after their 2 TD loss to then 0-3 ODU. Another voter (Jon Wilner) has the Ducks at #12 fresh off a loss and ahead of UCF & Penn St. respectively.
Even those these teams are not ranked, the voting does not make sense. The 2-1 Utes received love from 3 different voters, giving them 9 ORV, with wins over "powerhouses" Weber St. and NIU while losing to conference foe Washington by 2 TD's. On the flip side, Buffalo is 4-0 with wins over Del St., @Temple (AAC), EMU (MAC) and @Rutgers (B1G) and come in with 6 ORV. Granted the Owls and Knights aren't great teams but to me, Buffalo's resume looks way better than Utah's.
Some of these voters should have their privilege revoked!

Thanks for the post and I concur. What is the site where you can see the actual votes placed please?

I can't understand an App fan not caring about getting ranked.

Do some of you good folks really think that there are not at least 25 teams better than App at this point?

I personally don’t think rankings make any sense until at least 6 games have been played. My speculation is contingent on App winning out which they have the very real potential of doing IF they stay healthy.

There are not 25 teams in this country that I believe to be better than App State. If anyone thinks that there are then they obviously haven't watched any games or don't understand football.

Memphis? Houston? I've watched a lot. It's not who you think we'd beat. Its who you think we're better than. BYU? Bosie St.? NC St.? S. Florida? Houston?

If we run the table and finish 11-1 (hopefully with that 1 loss against an undefeated Penn State), I have little doubt we will be ranked by the end of the season.
