The Stink doesn’t Stink

Unread post by Apptrain » Sat Oct 06, 2018 10:21 pm

GS knocked off Arky State and now beat South Alabama almost as badly as we did. Hate to say it, but it looks like the pain in the ass Eagles are back. Another serious obstacle besides Troy. We are going to be really battle tested.

I'm not saying Georgia Directional isn't back, but their game today was as much about USA being atrocious as it was the Eagles doing anything well. Some numbers: South had only one fewer first down, only trailed in total yards by a margin of 326-394, and had over 32 minutes of possession. All of that to walk away with 13 points and 4 turnovers has got to sting. South was also comically bad on defense, allowing the Eggles to run for 6.9 yards per rush, and to throw for 12.4 yards per pass.

They're gonna be 6-1 when we play them. Got Texas State and New Mexico State up next.

Yep, playing very well all season. Plus you have to figure having Sloan could make them even more challenging for us.

Pass? Did you mention "Eggles" and "pass" in the same phrase? WTH?

South gave us plenty of gifts as well. This game in Statesboro just adds to the obstacles we face if we are to secure a divisional crown in transit to the conference championship game. To be fair, in our three wins we have yet to be battle tested, having conquered teams with a combined 4-12 record.

With few exceptions, when App and GS play, you can leave all the stats at home. Emotion and tradition are equalizers. Arky State first.

Sure they are better, but they had no where to go but up. Their offense is shaky and inconsistent. They rely on the big play and really can’t put together a sustained drive. Brinson is really good. It will be interesting to see how he does against Sutton. We are going to catch them at a great time. Back to back cross country trips followed up by a short week. We should be able to take advantage of that.

We’ll have a short week to prepare for the stink too. But they will have an equally short week.

True that we have a short week but we will have the benefit of playing one game in a 14 day stretch versus them playing two cross country road games back to back.

Yes, and they have an away game in New Mexico the Saturday prior and we have what should be an easy home game the Saturday prior so maybe that will equal things out a bit from that standpoint. We've got 3 challenging games coming up so we'll see how good our guys are. I still like our chances to win out the regular season.

I am actually glad they are doing better this year. It means more for us to beat a good rival than one when they suck or are rebuilding. The East division of the Sunbelt looks good this year and I think we can win out also...but them bunch of inbreeds still stink down there.
Beat Arky State!!

Honestly, Coastal bothers me more than Stink. Although we should handle them easily, I can see a let down in intensity and allow for a misstep. This team is scary good and I beleive the only team that can beat them is themselves.

Ok. Not going to debate you on the fact that Coastal is bad, and not going to debate you on whether or not we can beat and should beat them. I agree with you. My point is that we
are a young team that is playing at a high level. But young teams are susceptible to lapses in focus and Coastal comes at the tail end of a difficult three game stretch. It sets up as a let down game.

It took them the whole game to get to 48-13. Remember, we were up 42-7 at halftime. We did what they did in half the time, so we are still twice as good. Plus, think S Alabama was without some players in the first half due to being ejected in our game.
