Officiating in a Win

Unread post by AppTraveler » Tue Oct 09, 2018 10:48 pm

This game was unbelievably poorly officiated and from what we saw on our TV mostly if not all against the Mountaineers. Basically nothing called on Ark. St. and wacky calls against us. How does the Referee and I use that term very loosely not call #50 in black for whacking Zac in the head and then call unsportsmanlike on us when the same player takes a dive from a phantom hit. Again........just wow. Great performance Mountaineers! Get well soon Jalen Moore!

Totally agree; terrible officiating...seemed like a home town crowd.

I would imagine Coach Satterfield will send a GIF of that hit to our QBs head to the Head of Officiating

That wasn't his first flop of the game either. It was just the only fruitful one

They did call more penalties on A State but the hit to Zac's head was a glaring miss. Frankly, I thought it was fairly called otherwise. No holding calls on our OL was a welcome change.

Did anyone else see #50 smiling and dancing on a pre snap, while his team was down 28-9?

I was amazed at the man crush the color commentator had on Ark State

Bush league commentators, I was very disappointed at how bad they were. Not much enthusiasm, did not seem to know a ton about App State. Almost pronounced it wrong...it is not that difficult. Wonder what time the charter flight arrived back in Hickory? Could not find on the website that usually shows it....granted I usually count on someone to post the link.

Hopefully Jalin is not as bad as we thought pertaining to the injury. Did anyone else sustain any injuries in the game that we know of?

Also prayers to the Arkansas State Coach, did not see anyone run into him, maybe he just had a dizzy spell...I am not sure, but that was scary.

Bad camera angles by ESPN production to many not lined up at the line of scrimmage. Could be due to the set-up of Arkansas State Press Box....who knows.

Someone who knows how to do such things, needs to make a GIF of that flop so we can use it going forward. That was pathetic and he should have his man card pulled. Arky should practice actual football more and less flopping and dancing while getting nuked on national TV.

Duck went down toward the end grabbing his leg. It seemed like he was in a lot of pain, but the broadcast went to commercial and made no mention of it when they came back.

They mentioned he walked off and showed him standing on the sidelines. May have been a cramp.

I would only say that the game was called fairly because there were numerous missed calls on both sides. There were a few times that App got away with some obvious holding. The officials also let App take their sweet time subbing players in and out to slow down A State's tempo. If the offense subs in a player, the defense has to be allowed to sub too, but the officials can throw a delay of game flag if the defense takes too long. I'm glad they didn't, but they probably should have.

There was also blatantly obvious pass interference by an A State player on Corey Sutton when the game was still in question that got ignored by the refs. I usually don't like to bag on refs because reffing is a tough job, and there are always going to be mistakes and missed calls, but saying the officiating was sub-par would be an understatement.

I call it a wash overall although the hit on ZT and the "dive" left me incredulous .

Those two and the un-called pass interference on Sutton.

Perfect. I clearly missed that. Definitely a bullet dodged, if that's the case. Losing arguably our two best players in the same game would be a tough pill to swallow.

I've noticed the last few seasons that there are a few commentator teams which I think were in the 'Belt prior to realignment. And every time they call an App, Coastal or GaSo game, you can hear it in their voices that they don't like the teams and that they shouldn't be here..or that they've come in and dethroned the old guard of stAte, Troy and Louisiana.
