Likely recruiting related. I heard on Twitter that George Vinson, a 2-star LB who originally committed to Buffalo, has now committed to Appalachian. A very good pick-up for us but hopefully he knows something else too!

Jamal JJ Jackson‏@JamalASU12

“@GVSIX: Officially commited to Appalachian State University #appnation #appstatefootball” welcome to the family! Congrats!

Some other App assistant tweeting about "App football is about to go to another level"...

Love having coaches on twitter, but if they are going to tweet hints and such like little girls, I'd rather not have it.

He initially committed to Buffalo in June before opening his recruiting back up. Their loss is our gain!

Nice of him to commit without knowing who this DC is going to be. Any word on DC candidates? I would assume this is hurting defensive recruiting, besides this guy of course.

Complaining is oh so much fun, but please keep in mind that:

A. Discussing players by name before they sign a Letter of Intent is an NCAA violation.

B. When the FBS announcement does come, an assistant (or probably head) coach would probably catch all kinds of hell if they were the ones to "break the story" on Twitter.

Here is what he twitted: Coach Satterfield ‏@winthegame Just got some more good news!!
He didn't say anything about a player or replied back when someone asked him about George Vinson.

But, this is what George twitted...

George Vinson ‏@GVSIX Officially commited to Appalachian State University

SO.....I'm sure we all know that is what he most likely meant, but NEVER did he tweet anything about George. I believe he knows the NCAA rules, which some are crazy. I hope to see him tweet "Just got some more good news!!" over and over and over again.... :P :P :P :P

Coaches are getting after it in recruiting, no doubt. But the assistants have been running the show for yrs so lets not get carried away

Glad to see them getting excited though. Momentum is great

If it is as you say, the assistants having been running the show for years, they will continue to do so. They are expected to be on the front lines.

Satt brought a new method to recruiting, which started back in the spring. They now use an NFL type draft board and give offers earlier as you can see with these early signees. We only had one commitment this time last year.
