The way things are set up, we have a VERY realistic chance at making the access Bowl next year IF we take care of business. This year a top 25 ranking, conference championship (game in Boone),and another bowl win are VERY possible. Let’s do it.
Now, now let's not get ahead of ourselves and start talking about the access bowl NEXT year just yet.

We have a shot at that bid THIS year, just need some help from the likes of Temple, Memphis, Navy, or Nevada to knock off their conferences' front runners a few times. :D

I agree it is possible and I would LOVE to see it happen. Just saying that next year looks promising for a really special season. Let’s just go ahead and do it two years in a row!

That’s good but it’s not the poll which gets you a little number next to your name.

Why do we want to be in the top 25?

What kind of question is that? The reason you play the game and support your school is because you want to be the best. That is what makes it fun. It ain’t no fun living at the bottom.

Plus, being on top means more money for the program, more national attention and respect, better recruiting, more and better everything. If we live in the top 25 our future is much brighter.

We are nipping at the heals of a Top 25 ranking, whether it be SBnation, Bleacher Report, CBSSports, USATODAY, the Coaches Poll or the AP....... We need to do our part and Pack Kid Brewer this weekend.

That, and the whole "athletics is the front porch" thing. If we truly believe that and support football partly because of how it helps everything else, then national rankings and conversations should be a priority. Top 25 is precisely the recognition that raises the entire profile of the school. It impacts all areas, just like the quality of the academic applicants improved in 2007-2008 for some unknown reason...

Beat Louisiana or we will be fighting for help to make the Championship game!

Best team we've ever had would hate to lose now.

Regardless of season outcome I would be shocked if any of you/us do much complaining about this squad or staff come seasons end.

If we lose Saturday I’d say our chances of winning the SBC go up actually.

OK, I'm going to have to ask you to explain that one. Are you saying that because the team would be more motivated? Wake up call or something?

I can see it this way....we still control our destiny since we would still be able to beat Troy and GSU and would therefore own the tie-breaker and get to the championship game regardless. Losing to UL would help them potentially win the West and therefore provide them a path to the CCG. That would be a less athletic opponent that we wouldn't have to beat twice. Is that your logic?

That was my read, that he was saying it would increase ULL's chance of winning the West, and presumably they're not as strong as stAte.

But yeah, that take is a pretty big stretch.

If you took the winning percentages of all 130 BCS teams over the past 20 years (to include FCS years) where would App rank? Obviously we had a couple of stinkers but overall we have to be close to top 20. Reason I ask is can anyone imagine what it’s like to be a fan of either a perineal loser or a dumpster fire program? We have been spoiled and it’s awesome.

Over the past 20 seasons we've gone 191-73 (.723). I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone, but we've only had one losing season in that span.

Our all time win percentage is .640, good for 16th nationally. Winsipedia tracks the data and only counts teams with at least 100 games played. Michigan is out front at .730.

If you only count our FBS years then you get a record of 41-15 (including the 5 games this season) and a win percentage of .732. (suck it, Michigan  )

The southern miss cancellation is hurting us some, but he’s right we should be ranked in the top 20!

We should count the few DI years before the move to DI-AA was forced on the SoCon, Southland and Ivy, though not all of those years would be helpful with the numbers.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Losing to a western team would leave our destiny in our hands, provide laser focus, and hurt Ark St.

That said let’s just win them all!
