Good thread, but a bit premature.

True, Rek.
If UCF goes to the 4-team playoff, that counts as the G5 guaranteed spot in the NY6 (remember the playoff is part of the NY6). The spot is then given to another (presumably P5) at-large. The only way for 2 G5s to make the NY6 would be for one to get the guaranteed spot, and one to get an at-large (not happening).
Hell will freeze over before the clown committee lets other than a P5 share in the playoff money.asucrutch23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:07 amIf UCF goes to the 4-team playoff, that counts as the G5 guaranteed spot in the NY6 (remember the playoff is part of the NY6). I do hope your joking, because we don’t get in the conversation .....until we’re in the conversation.
While I agree it’s a sham, I would have a difficult time putting 2 G5 teams in to the New Years bowls. I think there is plenty of debate around which G5 would go in the event everyone finished with a loss (or two in the case of the AAC), but I just don’t think we see enough quality opponents to justify an at large bid over a P5.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:51 amHell will freeze over before the clown committee lets other than a P5 share in the playoff money.asucrutch23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:07 amIf UCF goes to the 4-team playoff, that counts as the G5 guaranteed spot in the NY6 (remember the playoff is part of the NY6). APP plays 85 scholarship football with NO chance of a National Championship again based on the alignment and the networks and P5 money cartel. I'm sure there are some of us that would like for that to change.ah59396 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 10:26 amWhile I agree it’s a sham, I would have a difficult time putting 2 G5 teams in to the New Years bowls. In an unlikely hypothetical where say UCF gets into the CFP, we’d have to get in over a 1 loss SEC or Big 10 team. I just don’t think we’ve got the resume to make that argument. Probably ever.
We actually do share in it already. The G5 received $81.32 million collectively for the 2017-18 playoffs. The AAC received an additional $4 million for UCF's berth in the NY6. Reports have the majority of the $81.32 million shared between the 5 leagues, with a small portion being divvied up by performance. Therefore the average G5 league received $17.06 million ($85.32 million / 5) for the 2017-18 playoffs. The Sun Belt splits this evenly.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:51 amHell will freeze over before the clown committee lets other than a P5 share in the playoff money.asucrutch23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:07 amIf UCF goes to the 4-team playoff, that counts as the G5 guaranteed spot in the NY6 (remember the playoff is part of the NY6). True for the Alabamas, Michigans, Clemsons, Southern Cals, etc of the world. Others lucked into it when they formed these conferences years ago (ala the Iowa States, Purdues, and Oregon States of the world).
That's the meaning, A G5 team will NEVER play for a National Championship, and never get P5 money. The table has been slanted-cartel like and G5 may be in stone for a long time. I'm a capitalist and am to the right of Jesse Helms on the spectrum, before anyone thinks I'm socialist. It'll be a grand day if we can ever move up from of the G5.asucrutch23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 12:52 pmWe actually do share in it already. By comparison, the SEC received $54 million base, $6 million for Alabama's berth, $6 million for Georgia's berth, and $4 million for Auburn's berth in the Peach for a total of $70 million, $52.94 million more than the average G5 league. The SEC does not split this evenly, it is weighted towards the participating teams.
Now, if all you meant was that the CFP committee would be unlikely to throw any additional money the G5's way by virtue of giving a G5 team a spot in the 4-team playoff, then I agree!
No doubt! Set your goals high and out of reach if you want to be successful.
In that scenario it would be a 1 loss UCF runner up vs a 1 loss App State champion. I still think UCF would get it. I think UCF in particular needs to lose 2.
But if UCF loses the AAC championship aren't they ineligible?AppNation85 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 19, 2018 8:07 pmIn that scenario it would be a 1 loss UCF runner up vs a 1 loss App State champion. I still think UCF would get it. I think UCF in particular needs to lose 2.
