Week 8: Games of interest

Unread post by moonshine » Thu Oct 18, 2018 11:47 am

Start off with tonight's Fun Belt and Pac12 match-ups:
GSU @ stAte---Will Elliott's Panthers help to keep the East's domination rolling?
Stanford @ ASU---the trees are ahead of App in ORV...Go Sun Devils!

Friday action:
CSU @ Boise---At 4-2 on the season, a Broncos' loss would take them completely out of the equation.

Saturday showdowns:
#12 Oregon @ #25 Wash St.---Let's go Ducks!
ILL @ #23 Wisc---Can Meadors and decommit D.Pate get the Illini fired up to beat the Badgers? Probably not!
#22 Miss St. @ #5 LSU---Geaux Tigers!
UCONN @ #21 USF---Can Strong and the Bulls continue rolling against the weak Huskies?...Most likely!
#20 Cincy @ Temple---The Bearcats have not faced a tough D like the Owls (#27 total D) so far this season. Go Owls!!!
Maryland @ #19 Iowa---After all the turmoil, will the 4-2 Terps provide App with some help against the Hawkeyes? Not holding my breath.
#18 Penn St. @ IU---Coming off a loss, the Nittany Lions look to rebound against the 4-3 Hoosiers.
#16 NCSU @ #3 Clemson---GOTW...Can Doeren get the Pack motivated enough to take control of the ACC?
CU @ #15 Washington---Tough to choose as the Buffalo's sit just behind App in ORV and would likely jump the Mountaineers with a W.
Vandy @ #14 UK---Channeling their inner Calipari, the Wildcats are off to a 5-1 start. Need the 3-4 Commodores to whip UK!

Unranked action:
UH @ Navy---Houston sits behind App in ORV...Go Midshipmen!
USC @ Utah---Both at 4-2, USC is just ahead of App in ORV while the Utes are 4 behind App in ORV...toss up!
Utah St. @ WYO---USU has had a strong showing so far this season and is 2 behind App in ORV...Go Cowboys!
SJSU @ SDSU---the battle of the S_SU's with the 5-1 Aztecs 2 ahead of App in ORV...not counting on the Spartans for any help.

UNCC @ MTSU---Both teams are currently 3-3 and with a new Shirreffs (QB) in town for the 40-whiners, can he help App's SOS by taking out the Blue Raiders who may be without star QB, Stockstill, who was injured last week against FIU? Go fighting Norms?!?!

Some of these look like easy wins for the teams ahead of us, but there are a lot of potential opportunities for us to move up if we handle our business Saturday. I think this *could* be the week we get ranked if we win big.

APPsolutely! As a fan, it's just fun to track these other games as they can impact App. All our boys can do is focus on the task at hand.

I believe even if App and Penn St. win big this weekend, the stars still have to align for App to get ranked come Sunday. If we see Wash St., Miss St., USF, Cincy and possibly Iowa go down, the Mountaineers have a shot! If they don't align this week, it may come down to the national prime time rivalry game next Thursday against GS while also getting a helping hand from teams ranked #20-25..

Everyone knows the results from Thursday and Friday. As of this post:

#23 Wisconsin up early 14-0.

#6 UM v #24 MSU knotted at 0 in a lightening delay.

#20 Cincy down early to Temple 10-7.
