My mind is flooded with thoughts of events, and people- some of which have passed, that did the heavy lifting ,and not without major resistance , to bring us to this point as a program. As a university.

Agree. Hope this is a motivator and not a distraction. This makes a win for GSU even sweeter.

Well, it took years to get the ole Boone country club out of the athletic dept. laney , borkowski ,the drip and the rest. A group of us always knew we could do this and we all became hated for our attempts to get the administration off their butts. Many small things brought us to this point and I am very proud of how we have progressed. My old name was Roachout and my moniker at the end of each post was Fire Laney! When he was canned I became Roachgone. So glad there was a group that persevered in the face of much ridicule by the Boone elite. Our football program has become what many of us knew it could be. Very ,very proud of my school! Go Apps!! For old times sake—— Fire Lamley!! 😀😀

Huge day for the university. Tons of great publicity for us today and get a chance to show off our ranking on national television.

A few haters got nice messages from me over the last 24 hours....

I know I posted it on another thread, but I've been saying for years that we do special things up in Boone and this program would be one of the most successful to ever make the transition. Tradition, fans, facilities, culture.... 5 years in and this team is backing me up with clear evidence! It's only a matter of time before another conference takes note and we take a "next step" and put ourselves on another pedestal.

Feels like a long time ago when I was watching Ritchie, Hunter, Murrell and the boys hoist that first trophy in Chatt....

You brought up Chattanooga... I had tears in my eyes in 2005, so proud. We all went back to the Chattanooga Choo Choo and flipped on ESPN ready to see and hear about our big moment. We waited and waited then, here it is, a whole 30-45 seconds about our game--that was it, we couldn't believe that was all we were getting. Now, I am still very proud of all our accomplishments in 1-AA but have come to realize not many outside a school's fanbase really cared about 1-AA, now FCS. Appalachian has made us all proud, here's to he future! Remember what Sun Belt commissioner, Karl Benson, said the day we joined: Appalachian State will be the next Boise State!"... We may very well exceed that in the future!

We're just at the beginning. #25 isn't the end goal. We deserve to be top 20 (maybe even top 15). Win out and we're there! The next few years are going to be exciting in Boone. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

Still plenty of milestones to shoot for. But I think the greatest and most challenging is consistency. No one wants to be a flash in the pan. We need to be a top 25 team every year. I’m a realist and know that can’t always happen, but that’s the level of excellence I expect from this program and hopefully we all feel the same. We all help create the culture here.
