I will take a 1 point win Thursday down there! This will be a dog fight . Their defense is vastly improved and our offense has sputtered the last few weeks. Our defense should keep them in the 10-14 point range. Apps 27-gnats 14

Georgia Southern is not bad, and this will be their Super Bowl Sunday, with a packed house eager for the biggest win they've maybe had at the G5 level. But after playing the quality of non-conference teams App has played over the past several years and the bowl games, I am not as worried about this team being bothered by the road atmosphere in Statesboro.

Our defense and running game will travel -- I am confident of that. The key is turnovers. Zac must make great decisions, and our RBs need to be very secure with the ball. Do that, and I think App will blow out this team.

They beat a horrific Texas State team 15-13 and gave up 31 to NMS. They won’t stop us much if we open things up

Unfortunately, the same was said about ULL's defense. As others have said, this will be GSU's super bowl and i do not feel great about this game. GSU has two good corners, so Zac and the WR's will need to step their game up. They have been trending in the wrong direction.

We held back during LaLa game and Coach even said we had been preparing for gsu for the last 2 weeks since it's a short week

Both teams got caught looking ahead this past weekend. The difference is that ULL is much better than NMSU.

-8 is lower than I expected. I'm not saying we're a shoe-in, but from a data perspective we should be the CLEAR favorite. I didn't think Vegas took rivalry factor into account.

Based on the game against NMSU, App has an opportunity to win this game by 3 scores. NMSU has a FCS quality defense, so it's tough to extrapolate that side of the ball. But if Thomas can get off of his first read and push the ball downfield, App should be in good shape.

They are calling for rain in Statesboro Thursday night last time I checked. How will that affect our passing game?

Wind is worse than rain for passing (if we're not talking about an absolute downpour). The triple option is normally worse off in the rain than a passing offense.

Sorry, I don't buy the notion we held back v. UL. That's something said to make us feel better about not matching the lopsided predictions most made. Because they did some prep work for GS doesn't mean they looked past them.

Sorta like the UL-NMSU gave us an indication of the final score on Saturday.

We'll have our hands full on Thurs...and if we come out flat...*gulp*...
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Don’t think southern’s D is near as good as ULL’s last Saturday and the wind won’t be swirling around affecting Zac’s passes.

Given the pace of the first several games, I do NOT think predictions were lopsided. Applying scientific method you work with results, until those results change. I had said I would believe the team was very good until they gave me a reason not to. I like many were in Boone Sat. What I saw was not what I had seen before. We stopped three scoring drives on bad OL penalties. Teams are now getting a "book" on us. Good teams will give us trouble. Stink is good. They will be at home on national TV with their newly ranked rival in the house. I think we will make the spread given our experience with the D that Stink is still trying to put in place. (It took Woody two full seasons to get our guys to grasp it).
Ill wait to make my prediction until after Big C posts his. It will cover the spread but little more.
