Bowl Projections after being ranked #25

After seeing we were ranked in the top 25 (Go! Fight! Kick Ass!), I was a bit curious & did some digging in bowl projections this morning:

Cure Bowl
#25 Appalachian St. vs #21 USF
https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/10 ... ter-week-8

Camellia Bowl (again)
Western Michigan vs. #25 Appalachian St.
https://www.cbssports.com/collegefootba ... redictions

New Orleans Bowl
UAB vs. #25 Appalachian St
http://www.espn.com/college-football/st ... ons-week-8

Dollar General Bowl
#25 Appalachian St vs. Buffalo
http://www.espn.com/college-football/st ... ons-week-8

NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl
San Diego State vs. #25 Appalachian State

So far, www.collegefootballnews.com has been eager in putting us in the Cure Bowl with a good AAC team such as USF or Cincinnati. Same for Sports Illustrated. The matched us up with a P5 team like Boston College in the Independence Bowl a few weeks ago:

So who knows? We just might end up in a very interesting bowl game. Keep up the good work, Mountaineers!

Even though Cure and Arizona are the bottom SBC bowls, I'd love to see a USF or SDSU matchup, over yet another MAC school.

Did anyone notice who one guy at ESPN picked for the Cure Bowl - a certain school in VA whom shall not be named?!?!

Still thinking it's gonna be Cure Bowl this year, unless something crazy happens.

We still will never make the NO bowl without everyone else closer to NO in the sunbelt not being eligible.

Why would the top three Sun Belt bowls let us slide to the Cure Bowl when that game is the only one not owned (or even televised) by ESPN, and thus the main horse trader has zero incentive to see us in that game?

For that matter, why would anyone assume one of AAC's best would be in the Cure Bowl when they're way down the pecking order in that league too?

UCF could easily lose 2 games. This can get really interesting if we win Thursday and Temple veats UCF at home the following Thursday

UCF and USF are both just getting into the difficult part of their schedule. App is the third ranked team in the G5 according to the AP. Assuming the CFP Committee agrees with them, if App continues to win and USF and UCF stumble, App may be in a position to nab the NY6 game. If the NY6 game isn't what happens, a match-up in the Cure Bowl against an AAC team or a match-up against Marshall would be intriguing.

If we win out, stay ranked, and go back to Mobile or Montgomery we need to seriously reconsider our conference affiliation.

If we nab the NY6 slot, we very likely will have Temple to thank. They beat Cincinnati and have UCF, USF, and Houston remaining (as well as UConn).

Good luck with that. Odds are good that no matter how high we may go in the polls, we'll still be in Alabama for bowl season.

To those complaining we might go back to a bowl game:
It's just how it works, sure I want us to go to a NY6 bowl, but Sun Belt gets what it gets and that's where we get to go, doesn't matter where you go, just go get that W.

I do think people need to accept that it’s very likely either NY6 or the regular Sun Belt tie-ins for us, with no in between. All the talk about somehow putting us in a midtier bowl to play a P5 is just fantasy land.

I’m not ready to concede that NOLA will pass us over if we’re 11-1 though. We’ll see. If it does go down that way, it would certainly seem to be a significant black eye for the league. Really, they need to fix their bowl selection process regardless.
