It can be, if we are in the top 25 for more than 1 week. Big bump for sure today. But if we can sustain, it will be bigger.

I still appreciate the 3peat the most. We were completely dominant at our level and won championships in a proper playoff format. Now, Top 15 and some consistency in ranking ala UCF would make me reconsider.... Small steps, small steps

IMO, this is a milestone in our evolution. We need to start living in the top 25. We moved up to FBS, we established ourselves as a top G5 program by winning SB and winning against other peer G5 programs. We are making noise at national level showing we are competitive against top 25 teams. Once we start consistently living in top 25 we will be in position for next steps.

Re: Is being ranked bigger than.....
Being ranked is a side effect, not a feat in and of itself. What we've accomplished is a close loss to a good, high-profile team and a series of commanding wins over weaker competition.
It's a milestone, and proof that we're in a much better position to command media attention than we were a few years ago. But our actual accomplishment so far is a 5-1 season with a close loss and some style points.
Plus if we lose (from here on out), our ranking can be written off as a fluke. If a ranked Georgia or Penn State or West Virginia drops a game to a Coastal or Georgia Southern, they'll fall out of the rankings and their season will be suspect. We can't have special treatment in that regard just because those schools are our conference mates and we have some history with them.
Getting ranked isn't a destination. It's a by-product.

I definitely hear you. I was thinking more in terms of national exposure, perception, and respect.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Oct 22, 2018 12:32 pmI still appreciate the 3peat the most. Oh, well no question, being ranked Top 25 is bigger. But I would argue our resume over the last 13 years plays a part in receiving this designation and respect.yosef13 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 22, 2018 12:42 pmI definitely hear you.
