Re: Maryland job
Just because Coach Satterfield is mentioned, doesn't mean he is interested.

Re: Maryland job
They may have to go to a lower tier coach that would want to touch that poison position currently.

Re: Maryland job
Maryland's big mistake was moving to the Big Ten to try to compete with the big boys.

Re: Maryland job
I certainly don't want Satt to go but it seems to me he's exactly the kind of coach Maryland needs in their situation. He'd right that ship...but please don't go.

I live in Southern Maryland, let me tell ya, there is no way in hell I'd live anywhere near College Park!

I live in Richmond, VA, and that is as close to College Park as I'd ever consider living.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:00 amI live in Southern Maryland, let me tell ya, there is no way in hell I'd live anywhere near College Park!

Re: Maryland job
They mention his name simply b/c he's a "good candidate". It other words, an excellent coach who may be ready to move up into coaching a P5 team. Doesn't mean he's going to, nor he's ready to leave Boone yet.
He's accomplished almost everything a G5 college football coach would want to: bowl game victories, win conference championship, get your team into the Top 25 ranking & make your team more recognizable. Once he beats a P5 school or two (especially if they're ranked) then he's ready. Could be after next season, who knows?

Re: Maryland job
Agreed. Coach Satterfield and Troy's Coach Brown are going to come up in conversation every time there's a P5 opening east of Colorado. That's a good thing. It means Satterfield is doing what we'd like for him to do at App. At some point, if Satterfield continues doing well, he will likely leave App. At that point, App will look at how to continue program growth with a new coach. Until then, keep bringing his name up in every conversation about a coaching vacancy ... please. It means we're still on track as a program.MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:20 amThey mention his name simply b/c he's a "good candidate". Re: Maryland job
Maryland’s athletic department is in financial and ethical shambles. Satterfield will have more attractive offers if he wants them and doubt this is even on his radar.

Re: Maryland job
We have all probably been a bit delusional this year with the ranking and all that. Whatever. I do think it is not at all crazy to think that next year’s team could have the potential to be the strongest yet and considering our opponents...
IF the pieces fall into place next year Scott’s name will surface as a viable candidate for way more jobs than Maryland. And seriously even under the beat of circumstances will Maryland ever contend in the Big 10? At some point Nebraska will be back and the traditional powers won’t fall apart.

Maryland is a dumpster fire. Don't see Satt leaving for this job. Let's enjoy having him here for as long as we can.
