Haha, I didn't even see him when I looked on the sidelines for him early in the game. May still have been on the bus with those vid-ja games...AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 9:03 pmWas he there?appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 8:51 pmHe was playing video games on the bus ride down....

Re: Zach Thomas back soon?
It's fair for people to be excited about Brown under the circumstances. Our play from our backups has been less than stellar and Brown at 6'5 220 looks the part. Now, if his name was coming up when Zac was in, that would be absurd. Iceman is squarely number 1 on the depth chart. Brown will get his chance down the road, talking about how good he can be is fine, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and think a Tua or Fromm is waiting on the sidelines for his number to be called.

Re: Zach Thomas back soon?
I would disagree with most of this. As for the backups performance, I think that is way to early to tell how good they are. Zac went into camp as #1 and has received the complimentary number of reps for someone in that position. Last week’s game was doomed from the start with Thomas and Fehr going out. And from what I understand, the interceptions weren’t all bad throws. The two yesterday were on the money throws that the receivers just didn’t handle. Particularly the throw to Heath. That ball was in a very tight window. Another point about yesterday. Huesman was making his first start ever and he proabably didn’t get all of the reps as a #1 in practice so a little slack is deserving.
As for Brown, he may not be as good as we were hoping for. But he is a young kid and needs to mature a bit. As I said earlier, if he sees the field, then he will have earned it, but right now, I doubt that he does anytime soon. I find it interesting that we played 6 QBs against GW and he wasn’t one of them.

From what I hear from his teammates, Brown has embraced his role as the "Scout Team" QB and is working hard. He has a great attitude and loves being at App. His family also says that he is making a positive adjustment in the classroom. They are pleased with his decision to be here!!! Please let's be patient with all of our QBs. Derrick & Huesman both deserve to be Mountaineers and will contribute to Conf Championships!

Rewatching the game this morning and I know we got a little impatient last night, but it was a solid effort by Huesman. The only touchdown they got was more to blame on the sun than anything else. Defense was outstanding. The score with a little more experience would have been several scores more lopsided. Satt knew we had a stranglehold on them and shortened the game in the second half. We beat a 5-2 team and dominated them defensively. This young team is growing up.JMappfan5 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 10:29 amFrom what I hear from his teammates, Brown has embraced his role as the "Scout Team" QB and is working hard. Agree. We ARE the 3rd youngest team in FBS.....Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 11:01 amRewatching the game this morning and I know we got a little impatient last night, but it was a solid effort by Huesman. A (5-3) team that gave UAB(8-1) their only loss. This was a quality win. CCU is a pretty solid team and the D dominated them. That pick 6 off the bounce off a helmet was an anomaly. I’m proud of this team and still very optimistic!Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 11:01 amRewatching the game this morning and I know we got a little impatient last night, but it was a solid effort by Huesman. Re: Zach Thomas back soon?
Zac was there. I saw him twice. Once getting off the bus and during pre game warmups. He warmed up with Jacob, Zeb, and Derrick in full pads and uniform. He came out to the game in street clothes. He was either being tested to see if he could play, or he was being a decoy to confuse CCU.

Based off Satts post game comments, he went through pre game as part of protocals.

Re: Zach Thomas back soon?
Couldn't figure out why we threw three times into the sun in the 1st Q, throwing to our bench side. I was sitting down there and no way could you see a ball. The pic 6 was dead into it. Should of thrown to the other side. About the time the Q changed, the sun was about down.

Re: Zach Thomas back soon?
I saw him play in the Shrine Bowl , Brown has the tools and will have ample opportunity down the road but needs polishing. The kid that’s now starting at EZU as a freshman looked like Roman Gabriel that day.He threw for about 400 yards yesterday.

Re: Zach Thomas back soon?
That's my understanding, as well. Scott told Molly Cotton in the after-game interview that Zac would return to practice tomorrow.
