I worked at the Gboro Sci Center yesterday and then a wedding in the planetarium after my regular shift. I watched the 1st half before the wedding and peeked at my computer during part of the ceremony when my job was waiting for my next cue. I work the lights/sound and planetarium controls in the back of the room. I do have my priorities and around 7:00 it was checking in on the game .
Anywhooo, before GSC closed for the day I noticed a gentleman wearing a App State shirt and asked why we was not in Conway and joking with him a bit. Come to find out he was in Gboro on vacation and actually a Penn St fan but wanted to show App some love while he was down in this part of the country. Nice to have that sort of respect from fans of other schools.

That’s pretty cool. I’d love for Doug to work some of his magic and get a game with Penn State at the Rock. Would love to share with them our special setting, some Mountaineer hospitality and an AMB cold one.

Greensboro is an interesting vacation destination.... I could see it, though, for folks interested in history.

I tend to agree, but we have the Revolutionary War battlefield, which is right around the corner from the GSC, and the civil rights museum downtown in the old Woolworth's. NC Zoo is close enough to stay in Gboro and still visit the zoo. It could also serve as a base to a day trip to Raleigh and Charlotte but stay in the same hotel each night for convenience. Charlotte Hawkins Brown historical site is just down the road from my house in Sedalia. Not that I would spend money there but the ACC sports hall of fame is at the coliseum. Bryan Park has a nice public links golf course. Water park in the summer, though closed now. Plenty for a weekend or short vacation but not a destination for sure but very few cities are to be honest.

Exactly.
I grew up visiting my Papa who was an IRS attorney and judge in Greensboro. He was raised in Union Mills near "Ruffton" during the great depression. Needless to say, he always valued his education, the arts and sciences, and any attempt at good grammar or humor. He raised 6 children, 5 of which were/are very successful according to social norms - with a 6th I would define as very successful. We visited each historical site in the Guilford County area every summer. Due to this fact, lightening bugs make me think of history, academia, and "Pi are round, cornbread R Square."
I appreciate Greensboro. I actually attended UNCG after my sophomore year at Appalachian State chasing foolish endeavors. Glad to have earned my BSBA in 2016 from App State, as it only took me 15 years, 4 combat deployments, and the ability to humble myself.
Greensboro is a strange place to vacation. That is not a bad thing.
