Two votes in the coach’s poll
We’re back in the “Others Receiving Votes” list. Our climb back is underway.

Actually the movement was started for next year. We need to be relevant going into our bowl game and win to get in the preseason conversation.

Right on. The hype and bluster killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

The next time won’t be as overwhelming, and if we are going to get to where we want to go, we’re going to have to get ranked again and continue climbing.

Having our name on that list is better than not having our name on the list. Our goal is a conference championship and bowl win. Any respect along the way is appreciated but secondary.

Got to help with recruiting if we can continue to receive votes. Let's just focus on Texas State!!!

Re: Two votes in the coach’s poll
Hey, at least we've been to the mountain (no pun intended) now that we initially got there, we just have to find out way back by finishing up strong and positioning ourselves for next year.
Georgia Southern kind of got revenge on us. I remember back in the FCS days that the week they came to Boone, they were ranked #1 in the FCS and then we congratulted them on the achievement by utterly destroying them (sound familiar?), rushed the field and delivered Peacock a goalpost.

Re: Two votes in the coach’s poll
Fehr, Moore, and Thomas losses hurt against Georgia Southern. It was obvious against Coastal that losing Fehr may have been the biggest loss of the Southern game considering his performance against both the run and the pass in Conway. Against Southern he was disrupting plays, filling gaps, and got after the QB a little too hard resulting in his ejection.
I don't believe the ranking was a distraction for the team so much as losing Thomas and Fehr both in the first quarter did. Rain and playing on the road didn't help either. I can't think of many situations where a team loses a starting ILB and QB and would manage to beat a peer school with one loss.

Georgia Southern got a lot of points off of turnovers. They certainly didn't look as potent against UL-M. I'd like to think we would have been more effective with our #1 QB in the entire game and a player like Fehr. But, who knows it may have been Georgia's night either way.

Southern has lived off turnovers all year. They are +20 on the year. If they were at a more reasonable +4/5 they would have a much different record.

Re: Two votes in the coach’s poll
I’ll admit it was cool seeing our name listed at 25 but the obsession is crazy. If we win out, take the championship and the bowl we will be 11-2. That will be good enough for at least the top 30. A lot of folks tend to forget that we are playing with mostly 18-20 year olds. Not a ton of older experienced dudes. Losses happen every game to half the teams. If we can win out we will be in rarified air- very few D1 programs win 10 or more 3 straight years.

Re: Two votes in the coach’s poll
My dream is next year App is a top 20 team, and GSU gets the #25 spot right before they play us, and we obliterate them. I’m talking 70-0 whooping and completely embarrass them on TV

Not being consumed by the hype this time. I love my team but who have we beaten to deserve a top 25 ranking????

Like Eric “said” we lost Moore Thomas then Fehr. Without them we are not a top 25 team

If you have Twitter or access to who in the AP votes, I encourage you to look at the ballots and you will see the bias has started to build. Some asshat voted UF #15 and has UCF #18.

Can't be afraid of being ranked. For those that say we aren't deserving based on our schedule, that can be said for many in the 20-40 range.

Agreed. Heck, look at Clemson's schedule. Not exactly beating power houses.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 4:25 pmCan't be afraid of being ranked. For those that say we aren't deserving based on our schedule, that can be said for many in the 20-40 range.
