12th Game to be Scheduled?

I know we are all holding out hope that the chips will fall in our favor and we host the SBC Championship game on December 1.

In case things don't go our way, does anyone have any inside info on a potential 12th game?

Typically games are only added for bowl eligibility purposes, so it is HIGHLY unlikely we play a 12th regular season game.

I believe DG has said straight out that we will not play a 12th regular season game this year. The way things are working out, we likely won't know until the final game if we are going to the CCG or not so I think there is a zero chance of scheduling a 12th regular season game.

My personal opinion is that as long as there is money to be made, there is always a chance.

Yeah, no way. It would be cool, but I can't see that happening. Not this year anyway.

Being that they have already made arrangements--via several choices-- to re-pay folks for their tickets for So. Miss game, I'd say 0% chance of another being scheduled.

A bowl scout friend told me he heard Virginia Tech was reaching out to App and another school to try to add a game to their schedule.
I still doubt it will happen though.

This thread should be deleted. Isn’t this subject completely dead? Besides we WILL be at home that day.

Someone from the Eastern division of the Conference will host the title game.

If there is any truth to them reaching out for a game, then they think APP must be "Buy A Win". They certainly wouldn't reach out to get a loss that would do them no good.

True, but I wonder how many teams are left from the Florence cancellations that haven't already scheduled a 12th game? It's a limited number, right? Virginia Tech only has 4 wins with 3 games left and they could lose at least 2 of those easily. So why not take a game against a good G5 like us? Pick up home game revenue, get bowl eligible and help SOS all with a win over us. I'd love to play them if we're eliminated from the SBC championship game. Close enough to go to and we'd have a decent chance of winning.

Well, while we are hoping to see some actual good come out of the Hurricane devastation, with NCState and West By God being cancelled, how about the fake Mountaineers reaching out to us for that 12th data point for the final four playoffs? I gather it's hurt their chances not having that game with the Red Necks and White Socks. Surely the Wake loss hurt the Future Farmers of America last night?

Hypothetical: Let's say DG worked some magic.

Would you rather play the SBC Championship game at home on 12/1 or play a good P5 (NCSU, VT, USC et al) at home on 12/1.

I'd rather play for the SBC Championship, regardless of location.

Where are the good teams?...LOL!

Based on your list reckon I'll vote for the championship. Might change my vote if we could play the Death Star in Boone.

I only listed those bc those were teams with hurricane cancellations.

For me I'd have to vote P5 regardless of which one. I know we're a program who values championships and I certainly do too, but we play in the Sun Belt. While it's much improved as a conference (thanks in large part to us), it doesn't get us the notoriety of a P5 home win. Recruiting, donorship, getting ranked again would all be better-served with a P5 win than a SBC ring, IMO.

Moreover, I think hosting the Wolf Pack or the Hokies would be WAY more fun than hosting [probably] ULM. Maybe less meaningful to most, but we'd get a bigger crowd for a P5. The students would be way more lit for a P5.

Virginia Tech lost a home game and they aren't coming to Boone.

Dream on, guys. This thread is silly, at best. Our AD has long since made the decision. Just accept it and get over it. The decider-in-chief has decided. Period. He absolutely won't change his mind at this late date. If the Apps aren't playing in the SBC championship game on 2.1.2018, they'll be practicing for their bowl game.

It's all in jest. Humor and sarcasm are sometimes difficult to convey on message boards.

The first sentence of my post says "hypothetical."

Message boards are for discussions. It's ok to talk about things that aren't going to happen. If that's not your style, move on.
