Without question the SBC Championship game. Also, I think NCSU and USC have already scheduled Florence make up games.

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
So (hypothetically so as not to piss off someone who doesn't like to even think about stuff like this and in that case why did you even read this thread?), if we didn't get to play in the Championship game because the gods are against us,
What would be in it for App to go play VT or NCSU at their places because neither is coming to Boone? If we go beat them it definitely looks good. Would it help our bowl situation? Would it help our ranking starting next season? What is the upside? If we lose, does it hurt us?

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
Playing at VT would have to be a money game for us which would help offset our financial loss from our lost home game. I don't see any downside from losing to VT, the Sun Belt bowls are going to pick based on attendance opportunities so it won't make a difference in that regard. Even if we lose to VT it'd give our young players more experience playing a P5 which should help with next year's chances. Plus, it'd be exciting for us fans...kind of a consolation game for not making the SBC championship game. We'd still have at least 2 weeks to rest and prepare for the bowl...and I like our chances against this year's VT team...I think we can take 'em.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 2:19 pmSo (hypothetically so as not to piss off someone who doesn't like to even think about stuff like this and in that case why did you even read this thread?), if we didn't get to play in the Championship game because the gods are against us,

Cline, your concept of free will is almost as tragic as all the creativity you've probably stifled in your lifetime.

A 12/1 P5 game, home or away, would probably feel like an additional bowl game, only with a much more desirable opponent and destination.Rick83 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 2:34 pmPlaying at VT would have to be a money game for us which would help offset our financial loss from our lost home game. Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
So, to play out this hypothetical....if we were to play VT and win, does that send a message to UNC and South Carolina? Does it decrease any of those "intangibles" going into next year that might be in our favor? Maybe it has no impact at all. I'm just thinking about it.

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
Dont want to be a negative naybob here, but there is little upside for us to schedule a 12/1 game, outside of us fans. It would have to be a home game to recoup the $$ lost or a money game. Past that, it is just more practice time, almost like another Pre-season camp prior to the bowl. I hear on here the yada-yada about this and that youngest team ever in the history of college football, so an extra week plus bowl practice is way more important than an extra game.

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
I’m not understanding your hypothetical situation. Are you saying if we had a choice between the two, (CCG and a P5), which would you choose? This isn’t even up for debate in a hypothetical situation. If we make the CCG, we don’t have the option to forego attending.

Just accept it and get over it. The decider-in-chief has decided. Period. He absolutely won't change his mind at this late date. If the Apps aren't playing in the SBC championship game on 2.1.2018, they'll be practicing for their bowl game.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
A one off game at a P5 like VT would most likely mean a nice payday. I could see Doug negotiating a large payment in return for us busing the team up to Blacksburg for a game. I would personally be more excited about that game than playing NIU in Montgomery...not that I'm being negative on the Camellia bowl again...but playing VT would be good for the team and a helluva lot of fun. Just over 2 hours from the Triad...easy day trip up and we'd have a pretty good chance of winning.App91 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 3:28 pmDont want to be a negative naybob here, but there is little upside for us to schedule a 12/1 game, outside of us fans. Yeah, that's the hypo. IF you could choose, what would you choose. If you were almighty and you could arrange world events to create a 12/1 P5 home game vs a 12/1 App State SBC Championship game at home, what would you choose?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 3:35 pmI’m not understanding your hypothetical situation. Based on a other thread, unless that CCG hurts your national standing and a P5 W boosts it. This is an interesting conversation, especially if we hadn’t stubbed our toe a couple weeks ago. We would need SOS help to be in NY6 discussion and challenge ucf, especially if they lose.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 5:40 pmIf you qualify for CCG you play it.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 3:47 pmYeah, that's the hypo. A P5 win over a top 50 rated team or a CCG against a top 150 rated team.
CCG is nice and always a goal, but I’d have to say given the choice - show me the money. And the path to the $$$ says, play the stiffer competition.

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
Not sure if I’ve read any take on this scenario- playing in the SBC at, say, Monroe versus a P5 home game that same day? Hypothetically after each option the resulting bowl option is the same. Obviously no P5 that is available will agree to come to Boone that day as they hold more leverage BUT this is purely hypothetical.

Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
Fair point but you don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Playing a P5 and snubbing your conference to do so is a dick move and would make us more hated than Arky St and Southern combined.AppDawg wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 6:49 pmBased on a other thread, unless that CCG hurts your national standing and a P5 W boosts it. Agree it could be seen that way, but I am most certainly sure they all would love that NY6 $$$$ that would come their way.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 8:19 amFair point but you don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Re: 12th Game to be Scheduled?
The original hypothetical didn’t speak of a NY6 bid and to boost SOS. That was an uncommunicative implication. However, a P5 game is not a guarantee win and a win is not a guarantee of a NY6 bid. That is why I don’t think it would be worth relationships within the conference for it.
