Troy Game
Any chance this game gets bumped up from ESPN+? Apologies to those that think it's taboo to look ahead.

Re: Troy Game
Epsn3 was free and seemed better last year overall on production quality. Especially most of these away games.

Re: Troy Game
Not free. Your ISP was paying for it and you had no choice it the matter to say no. It may have been a smaller charge than $5 a month to the ISP but it was not free.
I don't mean to be so pedantic, but free is PBS over the air where there truly is no charge once you have the equipment.

It gets very very little of its budget from taxes. True it is not zero but it is very small amount in terms of the CPB budget.TheMoody1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 12:53 pmPBS is only free if you don't pay taxes.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 12:49 pmNot free. Re: Troy Game
I have not had any major complaints. Some of the production values are not what I would prefer but nothing to complain about in the sense that I have had buffering issues or quality so poor I could not watch.

Re: Troy Game
I think ESPN+ will get better next year. What we saw yesterday looked like a poor attempt at community access — party on, Wayne. It was miles worse than the Big Bird Network. Who knew one of our colors was red. I’m guessing that’s why it was on ESPN3.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 2:48 pmI have not had any major complaints. Re: Troy Game
I have not noticed that the stream quality between ESPN3/ESPN+ is any different. What I have noticed is that the crews working the games for ESPN+ don't seem to be as good. The Coastal crew was awful. Stream was fine.

Re: Troy Game
ESPN3 hired the announcers it seems, while ESPN+ is using the schools announcers and production team. Yesterday being on ESPN3 was basically a ESPN+ production but ESPN is going to put a few shows to sucker us in to pay for both ESPN+ and ESPN/2/3/U. So it was really a ESPN+ production presented by ESPN3 (TM) game.sixtoes9134 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 3:06 pmI have not noticed that the stream quality between ESPN3/ESPN+ is any different. Re: Troy Game
You can't blame the production on ESPN, those productions are on the host school and (more than likely freelancing) production teams they hire out.
So far most of the Sun Belt's production has been garbage in comparison to other conferences. New Mexico State's Aggievision was probably the best of the lot when they were in the conference. Yesterday's was rough with all the red and white but they at least they had Chyron operators who knew how to have the play clock and downs displayed in real time...something our home production crew has yet to figure out.
It'd be nice to get a good quality, in-house production program going with state of the art equipment so our optics match the gameday experience. But that stuff is expensive, one handheld video camera is going to be at least $10k. Maybe someone could suggest to DG that maybe they could do that as a future crowd-funded venture since the video board was such a rousing success.

I understand ESPN may not be the ones filming, but they are the ones who own the rights and make us pay to view it, therefore, I do blame ESPN for their crappy coverage. They are ultimately responsible for the quality of the product they are airing on TV
