No major changes to forecast thinking for Saturday. The ice event is done and there should be ZERO impacts for travel Friday evening or Saturday morning to KBS. Come on up!

**WED UPDATE**

No major changes to the forecast thinking for SATURDAY. Sunshine, temperatures may be closer to the lower 50s for the afternoon. Slightly warmer than earlier thinking. Of course, the biq question remains, will tonight's (Wednesday) ice concern have any power impacts Friday night and Saturday? Don't rightly know, I hope not. But, mountain folks, this could be an icy punch tonight.

The November chill will be in the air this weekend. Dress for warmth. The GA State folks, won't be used to these temperatures. Sunshine and dry will be the norm with a chilly / cold temps

Here's hoping the power is on by the time the game rolls around. As of this Tuesday evening post, the High Country may have a significant icing late Wednesday night through early Thursday morning. We'll see how things go.

Believe me I would love snow over what is most likely coming. As WXAPP can tell you 1/4" of ice is really bad. They are telling us we could get over 1/2"+ and for all departments to prepare for numerous trees and power lines down and possible widespread damage. Snow isn't too bad to deal with most times short of a blizzard but even after the ice is long gone the cleanup will still be going on, like we would have for a hurricane or a derecho. Really hoping for a bit of a warm up since it's a good bet we're going to get 1 to 2 inches more rain no matter what the temps are.

Regardless everyone have a safe drive up and we'll try and get/keep the mains open should it get really bad. Power, on the other hand, is a different matter. Just keep that in mind and keep checking back here for updates from our man WXAPP.

Please keep us folks off the mountain updated. Hoping for no major impacts for everyone! Be safe!

Will the freezing rain affect Friday travel to Boonetown?

I drove up from Asheville this afternoon arriving in Boone about 5. I had no difficulties whatsoever. Right now it's snow raining with the focus more on raining. I'll be expecting to see all of you and Kidd Brewer on Saturday!

Ready for the improvement to begin. On top of Old Snaggy it’s 22 with strong wind, lots of ice, a little snow, and no electricity. 50 at the Rock sounds good right now.

Thanks for the reminder, we are heading up today, so as long as they didn't move the game up a day I think we'll be safe
