Troy
Today’s attendance was 22,315 for “Black Saturday” Georgia State. Will we have more or less for the East Division Title Game against Troy?

Re: Troy
Same. Maybe slightly more.
As someone who’s been looking for tickets/parking pass for the Troy game it’s been hard to find.

Re: Troy
Less, student turnout was really good today, will be tough to match.
Saturday after Thanksgiving is historically tough, but maybe we’ve turned the corner as a fanbase and the game means more this time around.

Re: Troy
There will be some. Dorms open, etc.
Just less than normal. Hope the big game appeal for others makes up for it some.

They are sending out an email this week. Dorms and food services will be opening up Friday.
Regardless, I have been to games at The Rock with 14K that were loud as hell.

I agree. In my opinion, the crowd was really quiet today. In fact, Wake Forest was the last game I really remember an “electric” atmosphere.
But I do remember plenty of poorly attended playoff games that were loud

You seriously think not a single student will be at the game?

I didn’t think the student turnout was great. They have been filling the lower West side and half the hill. Obviously, the hill was empty.
With that said, it was a solid crowd (the Upper East had more than most games) and the majority of the crowd stayed until the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Re: Troy
Thanksgiving weekend is always a lower attendance game. People who put App football very high on their list make it. Casual fans don’t. The fans who do are generally the die hards. So the ones there tend to be loud, but it’s hard to make up for the lower number of people. Add in the colder weather in general, and the casual, go to games to socialize fan, will chose to stay home. But the biggest punch to the gut for crowd noise is the huge decrease in students attending. I hate it because so many times over the years these are huge games with consequences. Maybe even first round playoff games when in fcs, if I recall correctly. Nothing us diehards can do but be as loud as 20,000 can be.

Re: Troy
My family will be there losing our voices! This game will be yuggge.
As a student, I always made it back up the mountain for football. My parents were never happy that I left so quick, but duty calls. Hopefully the kids that show up are rabid.

Re: Troy
A stat. Looking at average margin of victory over common opponents this year. Troy- +15. App- +18 ( this includes our -20 to Stink) This might suggest a close game so we all need to get our butts to The Rock on Saturday, and drag grandma with us!

Re: Troy
I wondered if the hill was wet and that's why few people were on it. The walkway on top of the hill seemed to be full for a while at least. I'd like to say again that we'd have more students not only attend, but stay longer if they actually had seats but I won't bring it up. And I agree, it was a solid crowd and Ga State didn't add anything to the attendance count...like at all.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 18, 2018 7:48 amI didn’t think the student turnout was great. Re: Troy
I put my extended family on notice that I'll be in Boone all day on Saturday so if they wanted me at the family get-together they'd better not plan it for Saturday. So, my extended family gathering will be on FRIDAY. So, big Thanksgiving feasts Thursday, Friday, and then a Trojan thrashing on Saturday...Bring it on baby!!

Re: Troy
Less, unfortunately. I'd guess 15-20% of students from today, at most, will be there next week. Thanksgiving and, gulp, the early forecast for rain with temps in 40's-- I hope that is wrong.

Re: Troy
We had 20,000 reported attendance the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2014 against Idaho. In 2015, same date against LaLa, just 16,000.
For comparison ‘05-‘07 attendance that same weekend ranged from 6,000 - 14,000.
Throughout the entire 3-peat we only eclipsed 20,000 one time during the 9 home playoff games and that was the 2007 semi-final where we put 24,000 butts in the seats. The next highest attendance number was 18,000.
