Since I've been on board (freshman year '07) the most faithful tradition we've observed is older fans being hyper-critical of students.

I didn't respond to anything traditional. I love our traditions. I responded to the backlash we always experience any time something UNtraditional gains popularity with the students. When people go out of their way on such a regular basis to criticize young fans for things that are almost always completely immaterial it raises parallels to the "get off my lawn!" old man caricature.

If enough people enjoy saying it, and it sticks around, then it becomes tradition. If not, then it'll slip away. That's how traditions work.

Either way, it just seems like a really silly thing to get so worked up over. Far less offensive than the morons that complain about every running playcall that doesn't go for 10+ yards in the stands every week.

I love our students, I never want to be the "Get off my lawn guy!". I don't regularly criticize young fans. The kick-off chant is one I do think needs to be changed-- Don't EVER want to be seen in Georgia Southern type light. By the way, how 'bout those cups and ice!

'neer's isn't something new. I remember it at the dirty nooga and likely before that. We had a lot of cups with ice at those games though, so could be mistaken.
