Ouch. That does soun like a great fit for him. Would we elevate Dale Jones to the coordinators position again? He is really the only remaining piece from the last several seasons with losing woody and “what’s his name” to the stink.
The good thing with him would be, he has said he doesn’t plan on leaving Boone, and may have some stability in that role

Tom Luginbill from ESPN says to take it to the bank that it is Mack Brown at UNC-CHeat.
We all know we're more than likely going to lose Satt at some point. I just really hope Luginbill is right this time.

If Satt did want the UNC job and we still have him next year, I'm guessing he will have a big circle around that game for a little extra beat down to show the mistake they made passing on him. Fingers crossed that happens for the App family, but hate it for him on a personal level if that's what he really wanted.

Hope they get Mack, for me it would be a head scratcher considering all things with him. That program, while I hope they never win another game, needs some vigor instilled.

I don’t want Satt to leave. The reality and we all know it is he is the best fit for the UNC job. Brown is a bandaid, Satt heals the Heels.

Mack is not a bad option if he can bring Chizik and Kingsbury. Mack can do the fundraising and be a CEO.

Why would you spend that kind of money to buy out the Fedora contract only to "put a bandaid" on the situation? I'm not saying you're wrong about Brown being a transient if he's hired, it's just inconceivable to me that they would spend that kind of cash only to install an alternative lame duck.
I guess money truly is of no consequence when you can always bleed another penny from schools like Appalachian through the Board of Governors.

I can see UNC bringing in Mack to "right the ship." He'd bring instant credibility as an elder statesman and reestablish discipline and strengthen the character of the program. It'll take a few years to get the right kind of players in there and to change the culture but he'd be perfect for that.

24/7 Sports & InsideCarolina are indeed reporting the job is Mack's. Good for him to get back on the sideline. Hope we stomp the snot out of him and his new/old team next year. No points left off the table for at least occasionally saying/doing good things for App. And at least it isn't Satt - though I feel we're going to have to sweat out a few of these things this year...

I'm feeling a little better with all of this Mack Brown talk now. Was a little down this morning after reading the article on the front page of the Greensboro sports page basically saying Satt is the most logical choice for the UNC job and went into 5 things to know about Satterfield.
Someone posted elsewhere if Satt would take coaches and players if he left (like Sparky) but I personally would doubt that that he'd do anything like that to decimate the program. He'd go from hero to villain overnight and it'd be foolish to tarnish his reputation with people he's been around for so long. He's going to leave the program at some point but will leave it in good shape and on good terms...at least if he's the man I believe he is.

Gents Louisville would be next in line........
I'd imagine Louisville and Maryland will have to hire a retread, not sure an up and coming coach would go to either of those dumpster fires.

He could reunite with Lonnie Galloway (WR coach) at Louisville, and promote him to fulltime OC, unless he's been fired as well (not that I want this to happen). I've been to Louisville, and would have no desire to live there.

Mack will be doing this for a token salary amount.

I am a little surprised they would go with Brown? He’s a good coach but not a long term builder at his age.

Desperate times for a desperate AD and program. Im breathing a big sigh of relief....Could it be that Satt actually said he wasnt ready to move?
