It worked well for Kansas State to bring back Bill Snyder

Brown is 67 years old. I see him there for maybe 5 years and then they will probably jump on Satt if he is still available. That would be great to get another 5 years.

They are going after Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury and Gene Chizik as coordinators...the coordinators will be making roughly $1,000,000 a year and Mack will make $1.5 a year

I think we have one more year with Coach Satterfield, two at best. If we beat UNC and SC next season (strong possibilities that might happen), then there will be many big time programs beating on his door, kind of like what happened with Chris Peterson at Boise State in the first decade of the century. But I think Peterson had 5-6 seasons of thumping the bigger programs before Washington took him.

Word is the coach in waiting will be on Brown's staff. That being said, after we've beaten them a few times, they may reconsider.

I've got a buddy in the State Ath Dept. He says the rumor for several weeks in that building has been Mack to UNC, Brohm to Louisville and then Satt and Staff to Purdue  That doesnt sounds weird to me just like the PJ Fleck to the Gophers did a couple years ago.

I could easily see a coordinator on Mack's staff being a coach in waiting. Bring in the elder statesman to right the ship, you know he won't be there more than 3-5 so put his coach in waiting by his right hand, give that coordinator a 3 year trial run with their system, if it works you can tell recruits nothing will change when Mack leaves. Perfect scenario.

How would someone in the NC State athletic department know what Purdue wants to do??? Chicanerous and deplorable.

Desperate times for a desperate AD and program. I’m breathing a big sigh of relief....Could it be that Satt actually said he wasnt ready to move?
Either way, at least this won’t be a distraction this week. Full steam ahead on winning the SB Championship.

What if they offered Satt $1.5mm to be the OC and coach in waiting?

People in the CFB world talk across schools. Alot of people in that world know things before it becomes official. Not saying that the Purdue rumor is valid. Just always makes me nervous when things get mentioned because he's been right more than he's been wrong. With that said. Purdue would make zero sense to me. When and if Satt ever leaves I really hope he doesnt take the entire staff. That would decimate us for awhile.

Lol sounds like athletic staffers across the country need to re-read the disgression clauses in their contracts.

With Satt's kids being at Watauga and firmly entrenched in life in Boone, do you all expect he would uproot his family at a pivotal time in his kids lives to move?
This is a rhetorical question, right?

Satt has done a great job at App, and no doubt it holds a special place in his heart.
However, he does not get where he is today without being really competitive in his soul, and App cannot be where he thinks he will end his career. I see no incremental advantage in staying at App. Does going 13-0 next year get him better offers than where he is today? I doubt it.

Even if Satt does not get an offer, or the right offer, and chooses to stay, App is going to face pressure from other schools looking to hire his staff. This could put Satt's ability to continue winning in jeopardy, which might mean offers like UNC CHeat will not be there for him later. Additionally, ECU and Charlotte are presumably going to hire better coaches, and in theory, will better compete with App for recruits, again making it more difficult for Satt to maintain his level of success there.

All of this is speculation, and Satt will not have all the answers either, so he is going to have to roll the dice and decide if he can get the next step he wants now.

I honestly hope Satt stays for another year. I suspect Charlotte, ECU and APP will all be in the same general range pay wise, all will value coaches with recruiting ties in the Southeast, and all will be contacting some of the same people, so I want to go first. Plus, Satt seems like a good guy, but I would have to root for him to get caught with hookers and goats if he goes to Chapel Hill.
Charlotte? What has Charlotte, or the C-USA for that matter, done to prove that they are any better than the Sun Belt? I believe that ECU will right the ship (pun) considering their facilities and dedication to Football. But Charlotte may only compete with App based on location, and even then you have fairly equal personnel. Having lived near Boone, in Greenville and spending much time in Charlotte, I'd say Boone is the more desirable location. ECU has decent facilities but with App's enhancements in the near future UNCC is going to be left even further behind than they already were.

App has dodged a bullet today. I have to say, it is amusing that some people here are peeved that Satt was passed over. Sports fans, sheesh! Satt hired agent Jimmy Sexton last year, and that wasn't to help keep his kids in Watauga County Schools. The carousel has just begun to spin, so hold on.

Lol do you really think you’re telling any of us something that we don’t already know? There’s guys on message boards in every fan base who thinks their up and comer will stay forever, the majority of this fan base knows that isn’t the case here unless Satts performance really falls off a cliff. I will say it’s always better to have your HC in talks of being poached by a P5 than being fired, sign of a healthy G5 program. But yeah thanks for the heads up.
