Larry Fedora $2,290,000
Scott Satterfield $425,000
Sure about that?

On Twitter several reporters saying the AD says “No Decision.” Also they didn’t reschedule their hurricane canceled game for “money reasons” turns out their insurance paid more than they would have made from actually having a game.

I don't think Sunday morning AD - Football Coach meetings are a normally scheduled "good thing".

His buyout is huge. They have tons of money though and it takes awhile before the buyout goes away.
Now: $14M
2019: $10.5M
2020: $7M
2021: $3.5M

The fact that there’s even a chance is enough that our AD should have Mike Houston from JMU on speed dial. One need only scan twitter for five minutes and you’ll see Satterfileds name on all the “candidate” lists for UNC. And not just from randoms, legitimate sports reporters with their fancy blue checks.
If the worst case scenario were to occur, Houston is a no brainer. That said, it’s nice to have such a competent AD. I’ve got full faith in Doug Gillin.

I'd be very disappointed if the best we could do after Satterfield is a 4 year FCS head coach that won a title with Mickey Matthews and Everett Withers players. Not sure why you'd consider him a no brainer.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:12 pmThe fact that there’s even a chance is enough that our AD should have Mike Houston from JMU on speed dial. He’s coached and played throughout North Carolina at the high school and college level. He’s done nothing but win at JMU. And we rank 96th in coaching salary./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:25 pmI'd be very disappointed if the best we could do after Satterfield is a 4 year FCS head coach that won a title with Mickey Matthews and Everett Withers players. We aren’t going to entice anyone besides high level FCS coaches or mid-level coordinations. For me he’s a no brainer.

With Satt's kids being at Watauga and firmly entrenched in life in Boone, do you all expect he would uproot his family at a pivotal time in his kids lives to move?

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
You have a point with the salary, but why take someone who has yet to prove what they can do over the course of years of recruiting? He's still playing with previous coach's players, and has actually declined in amount of wins now that he's working some of his players into the mix. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but no brainer makes it sound like he is the cream of the crop. Even if that crop is not the greatest.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:30 pmHe’s coached and played throughout North Carolina at the high school and college level. Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
I'd be very surprised if he did. We have ZT for two more years along with other young talent. Continue to bring in some solid recruits, and can easily see us as a contender for years to come. Build that resume more, and once the kids graduate, look into other options. Of course I'd prefer he stay at App for a long time.

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
I don’t know Satterfield so I can’t speak to what motivates him. I do know he’s a competitor, so the idea of taking over a P5 program and building it into a national championship caliber team would certainly be enticing. Possibly moreso than the money. It’s also something he simply cannot do in Boone.
But who knows, like others have said, he loves Boone, his family is here, etc etc. weve beat the subject to death regarding speculation on what he wants. I don’t know what he will do, that’s for he and his family to decide.
What I do know is UNC has apparently fired Fedora and there’s a big ass bullseye on Boone.

I can think of 3-4 million reasons he would consider it and only 900,000 reasons he wouldnt. Never underestimate the power of money.
Y'all will be fine even if you lose him.

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
He makes plenty of money considering his situation. Many of us are being too trivial pointing out the salary differences. Money is not always a black and white reason to change. Unc is a dumpster fire right now with no football tradition and a huge lack of fan support. What is the price tag you put on that?
Satterfield is inevitably gone, but I'm not thinking it will be too Chapel Hill. He keeps up his winning ways at App (which seems very possible considering our recruits) and he let's his kids finish out school and probably has a few better opportunities to choose from in a few years.

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
Exactly right. UNC’s problems have little to do with their coach. A dumpster fire may be too mild a term. Their problem is part political and part administrative. Sure they have lots of money but they also have a huge mess. Classes, anyone?

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
Football will always be a distant afterthought to basketball at UNC. Sure, they are mad when the football team sucks, but I don’t see football ever being a priority there. I know money talks, but not sure if he would want to go to a school where football will always take a back seat to basketball.
I know he will move on at some point, but I really hope he is the coach that beats UNC next season, not on the other sideline

Some of you still have the black and gold beer goggles on, any one of you would switch zip codes for 5-6 times your salary for the the same job or a "lateral" move. Why are you so sure Satterield would do his family a fiduciary disservice? As fans we all want him back, especially when he's put together the best team in school history. When this type of move involves million$, it's a no brainer. He may tell Gillen he's going to pray about it, while he tells his wife to pack. If he does stay we can guess he'll probably be around longer JM was.
