Train options to New Orleans

Unread post by McLeansvilleAppFan » Sun Dec 02, 2018 6:06 pm

Amtrak Crescent does run from New York City to New Orleans with stops in Danville, Va, Greensboro, High Point, Salisbutry, Charlotte, Gastonia and points south.

IF, and this is a big If, Amtrak could maintain their schedule south of DC, then you could get to New Orleans at 7:32 pm and make the kickoff at 9 pm. The return trip north starts at 7 am Sunday morning but would arrive in Greensboro at 3:44 am Monday morning which would be enough time to take a shower and get to work on Monday for those in the Triad.

Obviously not very practical as written but I had to toss out the railroad option. About $300 round trip and there is one bedroom left for 14 Decembefr if you really want to spend a lot and be well rested, or not be well rested and you have someone that wants to join the 10 ft high club with you.

For ChicagoApp, the City of New Orleans Amtrak train runs betwixt Chicago and New Orleans. And for anyone out west the Sunset Limited runs betwixt Los Angeles and New Orleans.
