It has to be Brown. Young guy who relates with the players. Will keep the lockdown D going. If we don't offer him the job he is gone.

Doug will have a calming message as soon a Satt announces. He will be gracious in wishing Satt well while pumping up the troops.

Re: Message to Doug Gillin
Depends on his goals. He could probably make the same money by being DC for Satterfield at UL. Get P5 experience and set himself up better or a big job in the future.
Brown is a good coach, and DC, but this is just his first year and still very much “woody’s” defense.
Big difference between assuming control of a defensive unit that you were familiar with, and assembling a staff and overseeing offense and special teams as well.
He may be a great coach and time will tell, but it’s a pretty big risk considering the experience and talent that the job should generate at this time.

With one year as a DC, I don't see Satt taking him to Louisville. It would make more sense to surround himself with an OC and DC with 5+ years of coaching (not, necessarily as a Coordinator) at the P5 level. The Rock wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 9:28 pmDepends on his goals. With PJ retiring at GT I wouldn't be surprised to see Woody pack his bags and head to UL. A new coach at GT may want to bring in his guys and Woody could easily be out of a job.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 10:13 pmWith one year as a DC, I don't see Satt taking him to Louisville. Re: Message to Doug Gillin
I believe he will and I trust him. There is no reason for us not to trust him. I believe he will also attract someone very good for basketball. I think we could win 18-20 games next year for sure with the talent we have once we get someone who can do more than just recruit. That is the sad thing about Fox is he can recruit but has not proven to be someone who can get the wins. I'm very confident that DG will get someone good for both jobs over the next 4 months, starting with football over the next 10 days.

I know that al these comments are made with the best of intentions and I completely agree with the sentiment, but when I saw the thread title, I couldn't help but think "yeah, I bet DG appreciates all this help he's getting." I mean...EVERYONE loves being told how to do their job by observers, right?

I'm sure he appreciates the title. I mean, it must be a big time saver for him when he's perusing this board for advice to have the threads directed at him to be clearly labeled.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:11 amI know that al these comments are made with the best of intentions and I completely agree with the sentiment, but when I saw the thread title, I couldn't help but think "yeah, I bet DG appreciates all this help he's getting." Yep, I'm fairly certain out of all the ones posting here and throughout Yosef's Cabin, and including Doug Gillen, DG has his "shit together" more than anyone else.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:28 amI'm sure he appreciates the title. I agree. It would make more sense to take Woody from Tech now that there’s uncertainty over there.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 10:13 pmWith one year as a DC, I don't see Satt taking him to Louisville. One year taking over a finished product and maintaining it is just not enough of a resume, imho. I’m not saying hes not a great coach. He may be but thats a big risk. One thing keeps popping in my mind: Capel.

Please contact Urban. You never know unless you ask. Can’t be afraid to be laughed at. You never know. He may be looking for a lower stress home to still coach, and coast into retirement. Like a UPS driver retiring from that high pressure to produce job and then delivering flowers for the local florist. The recruits he would land alone would be a huge deal.
