I am going to trust Gillin on this one. I don't have a clear favorite, several on the list would probably be adequate. I don't want adequate, I want someone that can continue to build on what we have. DG is very well connected and from what I see is doing a fine job. We have been blessed the last couple of decades and I'd like to see the current APP trend continue. Hoping DG gets the right guy and fit.

I'm seeing a lot of champagne taste on a beer budget.
I think most of the suggestions on here are right in line with our budget, except Elliot because of his buyout.
I should not have said a lot, but rather some are reaching for the stars. The ones that think think unofficial short list is filled with a bunch of nobody

I have no idea who would be the best person for the job but I have to think that DG has a good idea of their respective strengths. I believe that Satterfield has provided pretty detailed information on what he thinks would be needed to continue our success as well. We will almost certainly be hiring an "unproven" talent at the head coach level unless we hire McNeil or Elliott. I think it's interesting that Sloan is included on the list but I can't see him being hired as HC when he was passed over as the DC candidate last year. Similar thoughts on Ivey. Those two might ultimately be GREAT candidates but that is my concern in terms of ranking the candidates mentioned.
Was he passed over? I thought he left before Woody did.
I think my memory was defective and someone corrected me on that after I said it. Sorry for putting bad info out there.

We need someone who will build not just bolt in 1-2 years and I'm afraid he may do that. However, if Gillin believed in him and hired him then I would 100% back him. I don't care who our next coach is as long as Gillin believes in them I will support and trust. Gillin has given us no reason to think he will mess this up.

Just my 2 cents
1. I think we need more than a position coach. I think we need at least coordinator experience and hopefully HC experience.
2. We need to get used to about a 4-5 year rotation in coaches. If they don't do the job we will not want them, and if they do the job someone else with more money will.

Gillin lays out the criteria, will use a search firm, plenty of interest.

With the exception of Boise State and UCF last year I honestly think this is the best G5 job you could get if you’re trying to move up in the world. You can’t hardly find a program that already wins this much at any level.

We certainly have the players, we do need a strong HC that can keep it rolling.

Do we really look at those that aren't at a coordinator level? That would worry me.

Just a couple off that sportswriters list. I would imagine only DG knows who is on his list. I just threw it out playing the game we are all playing like we know what the heck we are talking about.

Doesn't mean that they won't, either.
What it does mean is this. Satterfield's going to hi-grade and poach the very best from our staff--soon for some and perhaps a couple of weeks later for others.

DG's no Mississippi riverboat gambler. He's not going to bet App State's football future (and his career) on one of our young coaches with limited experience. He simply isn't going to do that.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!
