Re: Josh Gattis
Just like SS not doing well in the beginning and a lot on this board thought we had effed up by changing from Moore. SS ended up doing very well.

Re: Josh Gattis
Agreed. No way we will know for sure until say year 3 but with what we have coming back there is zero excuse not to win at least 11 games after the bowl next year. I would prefer 12- or more but anything less than 11 total to me is a bad start. Either way I think we have to give a coach 3 years before we have an idea if they will be a good one or not.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 8:49 pmJust like SS not doing well in the beginning and a lot on this board thought we had effed up by changing from Moore. Here’s the latest. I like Gattis or Woody over McNeil.

Re: Josh Gattis
Can someone explain to me why Ruffin McNeil would be under consideration besides the fact he's been a head coach before? At this point the success he had ECU can be attributed to Lincoln Riley right?

I’m getting there with the Ledford move, if true. Would be interesting to know the inside story there and why Ledford wouldn’t want similar money for a HC job over assistant coach title and arguable bigger risk at Louisville

Re: Josh Gattis
Just saw a Sunday night update on Football Scoop. They make it sound like Ledford was the guy but he'd apparently rather go Louisville to be an assistant. Bummer. They names they are mentioning now are McNeill, Gattis and "others" potentially including Woody. They did mention that Gattis has been offered OC at Maryland and Temple is looking at him for HC.
I'm not liking how this is shaking out. I would not be excited at all about McNeill, Gattis may be out of reach. I'd be very ok with Woody and Ivey is looking better every day. I just wonder who else may be in the mix. For all the talk about all the interest this job will generate, our options seem to be dwindling fast.

Again: this. is. the. last. thing. you. take. into. consideration.
You think he wouldn't stay long? Good. That means he would be winning while he's here.
He wins while he's here, gets a bigger job, and the gig becomes even more desirable.

Re: Josh Gattis
Haven’t we been over this enough already? Jerry Moore was an anaomly and pretty advanced in age by the time he was really successful.
We aren’t going to find an awesome coach who will stay for 20 years.
I’d rather hire a great coach for 3-5 years than a mediocre coach who will stay for 8-10 and under preform
