Re: Josh Gattis
I mean while i like the idea of Gattis that article doesn’t exactly say he was “the architect” of that offense. And that was definitely Joe Moorhead. That being said it does state he’s great at developing and recruiting players, not bad talents to possess.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 6:54 pmThe insight into Gattis as architect of PennState offense....APPdiesel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 6:43 pmWhat's interesting about it? Actually I think it may have been technically this morning. So with that said I am sure you would have guessed 14 years higher and been spot on.AppinVA wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 7:14 pmHmmmmmm...35. I stopped counting at 35. As of Sunday, hat was 10 years ago.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 7:32 pmActually I think it may have been technically this morning. I kind of feel bad for Nick Saban. He gets poached more than an elephant preserve in Zimbabwe when it comes to his assistants. I guess when you're the best, everyone wants a piece of you, yet it's also easy to reload. But I'm sure he must be tired of the revolving door of coordinators which happens every year.

I think at last count, he's got 9 former disciples who are now head coaches.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:09 pmIt cements him as the greatest coach of all time. Re: Josh Gattis
Nothing wrong with App State becoming a "Cradle of Coaches" down here in the South. Miami University put(s) out some great ones, why not App State. It can become a proud distinction for us.

Re: Josh Gattis
If we do it means our program as a whole is strong and successful year-in and year-out. We can become another Boise State and UCF which continue to kick ass in the G5 despite losing their HC's to P5 schools.

Re: Josh Gattis
Miami had a lot of issues too. Hopefully when we discuss the "culture" of Appalachian State it doesn't involve NCAA Investigations or sanctions.
Re: Josh Gattis
We are talking the Miami in Ohio right? Didn’t know about any issues they had there, although I’m sure big Ben left some marks!hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 3:18 pmMiami had a lot of issues too. Re: Josh Gattis
If it is Gattis then I expect 3 things from him or else I will consider this hire a bust (which is a lot of pressure for such a young HC but it is how it is)
1. Undefeated in 2019 or 2020 and 11 or more wins both years
2. Clean off the field- continue the culture
3. Brings in some rising coaches from P5 programs who have recruiting ties to really give us a strong finish this year and big time class next year.
This could be a slam dunk hire and hoping for sure it is. I'm wondering if the reasoning of DG is hoping this springboards him out of App State in the next 2 years or if he just thinks Gattis is truly the man for the job? I'm always hesitant with such young hires but I'm pulling for this one to pan out. Expectations are high so I hope he can handle it. Many on here were against Capel before because they thought he would be gone in 2-3 years for dominating or ruining App with no chance of staying and I just hope this Wake Forest grad will stay a while. I don't mind losing coaches but just don't want to be a 2 year revolving door. Hopefully that is not what happens with Gattis. Pulling hard for him and will support him. I just hope he puts App first while here and not himself. If so, I think he can do fine.

Re: Josh Gattis
If all he is focused on is getting to the next level, he may not get there, I don’t mind people doing things to benefit themselves as long as they are doing the right thing and it also benefits me. This is also my position on politics...

Re: Josh Gattis
There are several things that are beyond a Coache's control: Injuries; sickness; bad bounce of the ball and turnovers. Considering a very young Coach to go undefeated and have at least 11 wins or he is a bust, is UNREALISTIC and you are setting yourself up for a miserable season. Take care my young friend.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 4:31 pmIf it is Gattis then I expect 3 things from him or else I will consider this hire a bust (which is a lot of pressure for such a young HC but it is how it is)
