I would hope the new coach would worry about assembling his staff, recruiting, and whatever and leave the bowl game to our remaining coaches, at this point. I believe continuity would be our best route to success a week before the game. Thoughts?

This goes without saying...the new coach will be the coach for the 2019 season, unless it's Ivey obviously.

Doubt it happens that fast but agree. Gillin is moving fast but don't see it happening before next week.

Both recruiting and winning the bowl are important for next year. Need to get a good class to have young talent next year but also need to win this game to have momentum for next year and get the benefit of the doubt for preseason rankings. We really need to start next year either ranked or very high up in RV.

I see us knowing by Monday.

I'm thinking 4-5 days is fast with all the interest we have had. Having a bowl game to prepare for as well makes it hard. Most schools looking for someone don't have a bowl game either.

I could see that. Would just be shocked if we knew something on Saturday or Monday morning. Could see an announcement on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for sure.

Believe an announcement will happen sooner rather than later. Just hope the team is staying totally focused on the task at hand. Perhaps a great hire and a meeting with the team would be a big positive heading into the game. Looking forward to the future. Next weekend and next season.

This. I wish we could condense them all to one thread and focus on next week's bowl game. We know that the student athletes check this, too. I want their focus to be on winning that game, not on the who's who of future App State. Let's take this one step at a time, win a bowl game, and then we can focus a bit more energy on the next coach.

Huh? There were 22 FBS head coach openings this year. All but 5 have been filled already. Getting this done by the end of this weekend would be about right. Certainly wouldn't qualify as "fast."

We have a lot of people with interest in the job. I thought for sure Gillin would need all of this week and through Monday next week to interview everyone. Last time, Cobb had already picked Scott so there was no real search. I figured with the importance of this one it may take 2-3 more days.
