I honestly think it is going to be Horton ...
Maybe, but he doesn’t seem to be the young, energizing coach with familiarity of this scheme and the recent success that I thought was a big factor in the hire.
Ledford was a really attractive candidate that checked those boxes with great recruiting contacts in this area

Why is Auburn going outside the program for OC? Bothers me a bit with Horton right there.
I think Horton is more interested in this job.

Football scoop reporting that ledford will be following Satt to Louisville. Hope that means we had someone better lined up...
Wow. That is surprising. I wonder if he just really wants to leave state for some reason. You would think he could get the same money at state, especially if he asked for it. Strange he would leave state for a lateral position
Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Louisville has much deeper pockets than NCSU.

Well, hmmmmm , it’s obvious that Malzahn isn’t interested in Horton for the OC position.

Starting to think there’s a reason Horton hasn’t progressed.

He was unhappy at State and he and Satt are tight

Kinda sucks. I was interested in Ledford. I think he would be good.

Hope you are right.

Side note, I'm sure this is inappropriate but your username reminded me of celebrity jeopardy (SNL) & had me tripping out. You might want to consider a dash in your name. :)

I'm really intrigued by all of this that's going on. Did Satterfield make a successor recommendation to DG? If so, who was it? SS had to have known that we would look at Ledford, but why would Ledford want to make a lateral move to Louisville of all places? NC State has more promise and potential than UL does, in my opinion. Furthermore, why make a lateral move when you could be a head coach that is ready for that next P5 job later on?

Lots of this is confusing me now. I'm thinking that either SS had been preparing for this move for quite some time or that DG is playing his cards super close to his chest to surprise all of us. Possibly both...

Yeah all this makes me think Scott has had 1 foot out the door for sometime.

Would be a horrendous hire. Honestly, all the remaining candidates we know of are pretty underwhelming. Ivey, Horton, Woody... none of those really excite me. I really hope there's something to the Josh Gattis rumors.

And to clarify, Woody wouldn't be awful. But I'd prefer someone more young and energetic.

I think we still need to be optimistic in the remainder of this search. Everything we have heard so far has been a rumor, nothing more and nothing less. As far as we know, DG has been trying to woo over Nick Saban to represent another 'A' team. Let's not count ourselves down and out just yet!

I'd go for Woody. He means business on the sidelines.

According to the football scoop article, Ivey nor Horton are mentioned. Don’t know if it only discussed “new” candidates or if it listed best possibilities.
Out of Ruffin, Woody, or Gattis, I would definitely want Gattis.
I feel like if Ivey was a possibility, he would have been announced already. Way cleaner going into the Bowl if it was him.
Sounds like Ledford was the preferred, till the Visor jerked the rug out from under us and now we are having to regroup.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!!! How dare you besmirch the name of the sainted Tim Horton?! Don’t you know? He’s the greatest running backs coach/recruiter to ever set foot on our campus… So great that no one has ever thought to hire him as an OC!!!!

He’s a great recruiter though… That’s why the running back spot at Auburn, a position he coaches, was completely bereft of talent this year.

Could Satt do anything else to hurt us? Geez. He broke the land speed record getting out of Boone. Be careful what you wish for.

Satterfield had to look out for himself and bring in a team that he knew would take him to where he wants to go. I can't fault him for that. At the same time, App is going to do what is best for App. I have no ill feelings towards Satt, as he has to make decisions that are right for his own career and family, but you won't see me cheering for Louisville just because he's there. He's no longer a Mountaineer and that's fine with me. I'm excited for the next iteration of App State greatness.

I liked Horton early on only because I think he wouldve brought some intangibles to the recruiting side of things and he would ensure the culture is maintained by keeping a lot of "App guys" around. By what I'm hearing, he won't be a candidate. Gattis is intriguing, heard his name for temple, so clearly there is smoke with him wanting a new gig.

I wasn't a fan of Ledford for a few reasons, don't think he would have been bad though. The benefit is, we may be looking at a bigger splash hire....
