Obviously don't know if this was in Satt's mind or not but if it's true that Ledford is going to UL then it'd give Satt some insight to beating NC State since they're in the same division. Probably wouldn't have been the primary reason, but it certainly wouldn't hurt, and you know Satt's going to be under pressure to start winning some ACC games and State had a competitive team this year.

I guess I'm wondering how the hell FootballScoop would even get this kind of information? People talk, sure, but unless DG or one of the candidates themselves is the leak, I don't trust a bit of what is being reported here. App State isn't Louisville when it comes to the press and rumor mongering.

Leaks like these usually come from someone with something to gain. Look no further than the coaches agents...assuming they have agents of course. This kind of talk ups the value, real or perceived of the candidates.

Honestly - if Ledford was as serious a candidate as some thought - I don't think he would've done this. Not sure what he's going to get paid at Louisville - but you can't pay everyone 7 figures.

I get the feeling he knew he wasn't going to get this job, so went looking for a raise from a coach he liked working for.

Based on the article's suggestion the decision to hire our next head coach is now pushed back due to Ledford's leaving for Louisville, I'm guessing he was not only a serious candidate but our number one target. But who knows.

Of the three, Woody's the safe choice, Gattis is the most intriguing, exciting and risky choice while Ruffin is the middle of the road choice. I trust Doug will make the best choice.

I know football is a much bigger priority at App, but when our last basketball hiring search was happening, Jim Fox’s name wasn’t even on the radar. There were lots of other names thrown around on YC and hoop dirt, which seems to be the b-ball equivalent of football scoop...just sayin.

Getting Ruffin McNeil would be a big mistake. He seems like a nice guy. Too nice. I guarantee we would see a massive drop in the discipline of the players as well as the overall success of the program. App is successful because we run a pretty tight ship.
