Time to file suit under federal racketeering laws against the NCAA and the FBS P5 conferences.

Re: CBS Sports G5 playoff
Pretty sure we can't file suit when we (the Sunbelt Conference and the G5 as a whole) agreed to the terms and conditions in contractual form. Our best bet is to hitch our wagon to the eventual Pac12 gripe that they keep getting left out and that conference champions get in. (Highest rated G5 conference champion of course, not all 5 of is).

Re: CBS Sports G5 playoff
Are you familiar with contract law? A contract made with questionably legality could be subject to being null and void. Of course it would take a lawsuit to address the question of the legality of the current system and the contract.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:31 amPretty sure we can't filt suit when we (the Sunbelt Conference and the G5 as a whole) agreed to the terms and conditions in contractual form. I'm betting we have enough to constitute a class-action suit and force a 16 team playoff

The interesting thing to me about those rankings is that three of the top 6 G5 teams are from the Mt. West. Now that's a conference with a reason to gripe.

Re: CBS Sports G5 playoff
Back in around 1999, I was in a graduate class at UNC Greensboro. Their AD was asked to present as a guest speaker in one of my classes. He began describing the realignment that had not yet occurred. He told us how the bigger conferences would start stealing schools to add and it would become every man (school) for himself. These bigger conferences would be at the top level of college athletics.
He said the remaining schools in D1 would form their own conferences in a second tier. And he said that the schools at the IAA level would essentially become the third tier in DI college athletics. Basically, everything he said happened in almost the exact way that he described starting 10 years later.

The thing that really holds the ultimate goal of four 16 team power conferences from being a reality is geography (as funny as that seems at this point)stafford wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 1:14 pmBack in around 1999, I was in a graduate class at UNC Greensboro. Add Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State to Big 10 and drop Rutgers. 14+3-1=16
Add West Virginia and Notre Dame to ACC. 14+2=16
Add Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech to Pac-12. 12+4=16
Add Texas and Baylor to SEC. 14+2 = 16
There you have 4 - 16 team conferences. Doesn't add to much travel.

That's not bad. I mean that. But now you've created academic issues in the Pac 12 and Big 10, and to a lesser degree by adding WVU to the ACC.AppScott89 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 1:38 pmHow about this.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 1:19 pmThe thing that really holds the ultimate goal of four 16 team power conferences from being a reality is geography (as funny as that seems at this point)stafford wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 1:14 pmBack in around 1999, I was in a graduate class at UNC Greensboro. Re: CBS Sports G5 playoff
The four team playoff and the eventual eight team playoff is all about making good on ESPN's promises to their advertisers. The "problem" with four teams isn't that it's too few teams, but such a small geographic footprint. Look at last year, Alabama, UGA, and Clemson. Four teams would be great if they had Texas or Oklahoma, USC or UCLA (they'd live with Oregon or Washington every so often), Ohio St., Notre Dame, or Michigan (Wisconsin or Penn St. would do) and a team from the South.

Asinine response. Just because you don't like the terms that doesn't make them spurious and it's not like anyone put a gun to our head. We signed it. Unless we have something more to offer the other side has no reason to renegotiate the terms.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:49 amAre you familiar with contract law? For the record I don't like that we have no clear path to a playoff either but it's not like the G5 has gotten nothing out of the deal. We all receive more money and have a guaranteed spot in a NY6 game that we didn't have before.

I thought about the academics, especially with the Big 10. However, I thought dismembering the Big 12 was the easiest way to get to 4 conferences. Just can't have you cake and eat it to sometimes.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 1:44 pmThat's not bad. I mean that. Let's be honest, from a football perspective, the ACC is weak. Clemson, FSU, Miami, and Va Tech are all they really have to offer. I mean, Wake, BC, Syracuse, Duke... The ACC is very luck to have had Clemson's run.AppScott89 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 2:50 pmI thought about the academics, especially with the Big 10. Re: CBS Sports G5 playoff
Where do UNC NCState and UVa fit? Wake played an important role in the conference this year, they likely knocked State out of a NY6 bowl,.Wake has won an ACC title since UNC and State. Wake just beat SEC Texas A&M in Charlotte last year. And to think APP was a blocked kick from whipping Wake. Tisk...Tiskappgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:42 pmLet's be honest, from a football perspective, the ACC is weak. Clemson, FSU, Miami, and Va Tech are all they really have to offer. I've been preaching the crap of being a second class citizen to the cartel of the P5 and networks for a few years now. We are an FCS hybrid with 85 scholarships, blah, blah, blah
