Re: Board of trustees
Would be happy with Gattis or Horton, Stacey doesn't move the needle for me at all. Would feel like a lifetime achievement promotion and not warranted on recent work.

Re: Board of trustees
But if you read this board our staff is as porous as a screen door. Sources galore.
(A lot of) somebodies have been lying.

Re: Board of trustees
Their OL was a disaster this year. And his previous three stops were at elite programs that went downhill badly while he was there.
That would be such an unimpressive hire that I'm going to assume there's no way it's the case until I hear otherwise.

Re: Board of trustees
No, but there is a flight from Fort Lauderdale Executive...and one left from there to Tuscaloosa an hour earlier. Perhaps Gattis was on the road recruiting and didn’t go back to Tuscaloosa with other coaches? Just a wild guess.

Re: Board of trustees
The delay, recent news and rumors starting to give me nightmares. Hope it isn't this guy even though he does have the shirt and plenty of heart and loyalty but with our budget not sure we could even lure him.

Rumor has it that he heard a Who. Not sure if that eliminates him or not though.

Re: Board of trustees
I hope it's Gattis, but according to this article (https://bamahammer.com/2018/12/11/alaba ... ng-gattis/) he's already making that without the headache of being a head coach.
"In the case of Gattis, jumping from a position coach to head coach – especially in the Sun Belt might not even offer a big raise. Scott Satterfield made a tad over $700K.
Golding and Gattis basically make that much money in Tuscaloosa. If they choose to return, both will be in line for big raises. Golding now makes $650K, Gattis makes $525K. The Alabama Crimson Tide can afford much more."

IF it’s Gattis I imagine he would finish coaching Alabama through the playoffs.

Re: Board of trustees
A P5 Assistant from the South. If that excludes coordinators (Nate Woody), then this is what I believe has been gathered, but could be wrong:
1. Gattis (rumored to have been offered)
2. Searels (haven't heard any rumors)
3. Horton (rumored to not be a finalist)
4. Ledford (rumored to have been top candidate, allegedly going to UL, but possible smokescreen)
Personally, if it isn't Ledford and it doesn't look like it will be, I was hoping for Woody for consistency's sake. I'd be ok with Gattis, I'd be worried if it were Searels or Horton.

Re: Board of trustees
No way, that would mean potentially he is not in Boone until Mid-January. He is here Thursday or not at all.AppNation85 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:02 pmIF it’s Gattis I imagine he would finish coaching Alabama through the playoffs.

Miami fans are begging us to take Searles. He would be a DISASTER hire IMO.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:03 pmA P5 Assistant from the South. If that excludes coordinators (Nate Woody), then this is what I believe has been gathered, but could be wrong:

Re: Board of trustees
Depends on whether one considers being a HC a headache or a career goal.appaneer1984 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:00 pmI hope it's Gattis, but according to this article (https://bamahammer.com/2018/12/11/alaba ... ng-gattis/) he's already making that without the headache of being a head coach.

I agree with you on the IF. However, Lane Kiffin didn’t coach the championship after getting the FAU job IIRCAppNation85 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:02 pmIF it’s Gattis I imagine he would finish coaching Alabama through the playoffs.

Re: Board of trustees
Yeah if it is not Gattis and they are announcing before the bowl (that means it is likely not Ivey) then I would think it is Searles. Searles fits what my friend told me as well being an assistant at a P5 who has been in the south.

Re: Board of trustees
He stayed at Bama through the first playoff game, then Saban gave him the boot before the final. But that was also before the December signing day.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:06 pmI agree with you on the IF. Re: Board of trustees
Well, I’m no Adam Sheffter, and let’s just say my sources are more from “around the program” than from within, but I was told Horton was not a candidate (let’s just say that was straight from the Horses mouth). This was more than a few days ago though and it seems that a lot may have changed in a short amount of time if any of our speculations had merit.
Things have gotten awfully quite over the last few days, outside of this board that is.

Re: Board of trustees
I think it's Ivey and here's why:
Ethan has to be referring to Ivey here. Who else would remain in Boone, and have their defection to U of L be contingent on who gets hired for head coach at App? If Gillen is aware of this (and how could he not be if it's true), and waiting on an "App HC or leave for Louisville" ultimatum, we would never announce a different candidate before the bowl game. What would stop Ivey from saying f*** you and flying home from New Orleans on Friday if DG picked someone else?
If Satterfield is talking about Ivey, I think he's our man.
I don't think Ivey would be a bad hire. Promoting from within is often a good idea when you're successful. Continuity is important. But it wouldn't be sexy. I agree with others that it would appear like we just got stuck with our third, default choice and there is evidence that that is at least partially true. It would also put a lot more pressure on this weekend's bowl game if Ivey is no longer interim.
