Ivey is not a P5 assistant though. Hoping it isn't Searles. Based on driving time Ft. Lauderdale is 42 minutes from Miami. It could still be Searles. Plane landing shortly from Ft. Lauderdale to KHKY.
Could be wrong - but if he's being hired Thursday, then he isn't in town already. Miami has bowl practices. Likely that flight is just some Snowbird with money!

If it's Ivey they announce now. No need to wait till after the bowl game unless you are giving him a tryout which wouldn't make sense if you have already offered him the job.

Why in god's name is Searles a contender? A failing position coach as a mid-tier P5 who is about the get fired for sucking? There isn't a single upside for this guy.
Stacey was really good while in Boone but I am not a big fan of this pick if it is him. Gattis worries me some as well simply because I don't see him staying. Searles would stay a while but I don't know if he will have the type of record that we want him to. However, if it is him I will support 100%. No matter if we like or don't like a choice they are now a Mountaineer and we must back them 100%.

My wild a$$guess...Gattis as HC announced on Sunday and players meet new HC when they return to Boone.
Ivey offered DC, Clark offered OC to run current offense and defense schemes.
Gattis hires S&C, QB, OL, DL and CB Coaches.
This is definitely my dream....

Yeah and I don't see why we would offer early. Perhaps could be someone we don't know of yet. Could be a sleeper pick who nobody has mentioned.

Just because the board is meeting Thursday does not mean they plan to announce before the game. And also, Ivey would never do that. That would ruin his reputation as a coach if he bailed a day before the game after being tabbed as the HC for the game...
I agree about Ivey, he's got a chance with a national ESPN TV audience to get exposure and show what he can do, and he's got a great team to take the field for him. In Satt's presser yesterday he said he'd hope to have his assistants on board by the middle of next week. So that would allow for Ivey to coach the game and then still go up to UL if he's not chosen as HC or if he isn't offered a prime position (like OC or DC, asst HC) by our new HC. Satt may just offer him a position coach spot so he'd have a choice to make.
I really don't think Ivey's being hired or not should be determined by the outcome of the bowl game. If we lose, with all the distractions and turmoil going on, you cant put that at Ivey's feet. We have a great team, and if we win, not sure you can say for sure he should be HC based off this 1 game. My guess is; if its Ivey, we know before bowl game. we may or may not know before if it isn't him IMO

The plane from Miami to Hickory is freaking me out. It’s gonna be Searles, ain’t it?

It is a little freaky. I must admit. Hoping it isn't but it sure does look like it could be.

Probably just Shula or Griese making sure their homes in Linville Ridge made it through the blizzard.

I'm not saying that his hiring or not would be based on whether or not he wins this game. What I'm basically saying is that if we announce someone else before Saturday as the HC then he'd be an idiot to abandon the interim HC spot and head up to UL. Whether he's the chosen one or not he's got a golden opportunity with the college football world watching to get major exposure and get people's attention, he'd be a freakin' idiot to pass up that chance. Satt said that he's not completing his assistant hirings until the middle of next week so there's no issue of him missing out on that opportunity by waiting until after the game.

Yes, this is what you think it is.
I know it is. I commend DG and app athletics for being so tight lipped. Not a single credible leak though this process.
It's Tim Horton. Sources have stated as much.

Agreed, he'd be an idiot to pass up that opportunity on that stage.

I would like to think if its not ivey, there has been some back door meetings about his future role on the staff (ie DC/AHC). Not sure he is the candidate, but hate to lose him too. I don't see him leaving before the game even if we announce HC before then

The Who's. Horton hears them. They speak to the media via a smaller version of Twitter.
