Re: Board of trustees
One of the coolest things about Gattis would be the first African American in our history as coach. That’s cool.

Re: Board of trustees
I know I'm calling out the obvious here, but in the unbelievably unlikely event that that happens, Gattis being a passed-over former Saban assistant would be about the twentieth-most interesting thing about it. How many former Saban assistants or position coaches are current NCAA head coaches? 11? Plus several more NFL head coaches?NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:17 pmWhat we are offering is a chance to go undefeated next year and go to the CFP to face his current boss that passed him over for OC. Normally, a G5 wouldn’t get in, but that storyline sells!!!
Heck, we beat a former Saban position coach twice this year alone.

But don’t use that as an indictment.

Re: Board of trustees
I am 100% in favor of hiring the most qualified candidate no matter what they look like. I'm not playing any identity politics at all here, just making the statement that for a school/town that already has a reputation as disproportionately white this would be a GREAT thing.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:27 pmOne of the coolest things about Gattis would be the first African American football coach in our history. Re: Board of trustees
DG didn’t waive - he just didn’t deny permission to interview. Seems a lot on here would’ve preferred our AD hold our coach hostage when he followed proper protocol in order to get permission to speak to Louisville.

Out of just pure greed for myself, I hope like hell this thing is leaked and/or announced prior to my flight tomorrow afternoon down to NOLA. I don't want to be in the air and miss it!

On the topic of gattis bama fans really don't want to lose him. I would consider hiring him to be a "home run"

Re: Board of trustees
He did great things at both Penn State and Bama. In fact he was so good at PSU that Saban hired him. PSU did not want to lose him. This is all based on what I have seen.

Re: Board of trustees
Would be cool, but all I care about is that he's a good man with a strong character, wins most of our football games and keeps moving our program forward.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:27 pmOne of the coolest things about Gattis would be the first African American in our history as coach. Re: Board of trustees
I agree. However I don't care if the coach is green, orange, purple or mauve. What I care about is will his student-athletes graduate and will his team keep our culture of winning the right way intact.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:27 pmOne of the coolest things about Gattis would be the first African American in our history as coach. Re: Board of trustees
Would Gattis be our next Mack Brown? One and done? Would that be beneficial for App?
