EXCEPT, that kid is from New Jersey. There’s a plan from White Plains, NY landing in Hickory tomorrow.

Re: Board of trustees
Definitely not a top SEC caliber head coach, but he did take La Tech to their first bowl game in 30 years when he was down there. He was in way over his head as the HC at UT. The one thing he is remembered for is starting the ‘Vol for life’ program which brought back former athletes to mentor current players and develop them for life after college. The program stuck around (still ongoing) well after he was fired.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 11:13 pmCan’t blame him for inheriting that dumpster fire at Tennessee. He was thrust into an awful situation.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 11:11 pmLook up his W/L record as HC and tell me that again.

Idk. Saban has been with him primarily the last few days. Wouldn’t Saban go with him to visit his recruits to hand them off more or less before he departs?

Re: Board of trustees
I'm 99% sure it is Gattis. The BOT meeting will be interesting. Like someone else said, Gattis is either going to make Gillin look amazing or like a fool who took someone who was not ready.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 11:07 pmOk... I was at the Hornets game, so I am just getting caught up here. I got a few texts from some sources that are telling themselves it is not Gattis, but some still think it is. With that said, I'm not going to answer all of the posts I just read through, but I will reiterate what I have been posting:
1. It's not Ruffin, lets just say he confirmed it himself.
2. It's not Horton. Same.
3. It's not Gibbs. Haha
4. It is not Ivey, the team was told that today. Confirmed. But I hope that means he stays as DC.
5. The team was NOT told who it would be.
6. Maybe not 100%, but I'm almost sure it's not Ledford. He is almost guaranteed to be at UL.
7. Gattis DID interview.
My process of elimination and taking into account what my sources have said combined with what people on here who claim to be in the "know", I'm still thinking it's Gattis.
With the recruiting ties that Gattis has, his playing experience, and the staffs he has been apart of there is no reason not to maintain our high expectations for next year. I will fully support this hire but I hope DG has a large buyout for the first 3 years so Gattis can't use us to just bolt before he sees this recruiting class play as seniors if he is indeed the big hire that some think it would be.
My only reservation is that he is younger and would not stay long if he succeeds but if it turns out he is indeed ready to lead then this could be a far better hire than Scott was. Only time will tell but I'm cautiously optimistic and excited with this hire.

Re: Board of trustees
I just want to take a moment and say, I really appreciate how passionate we all are about this team and how much we care. We are the culture of App State Football, not one single man who may be adopted as our new HC.
A toast to you all!

Re: Board of trustees
Here’s my research on it:
Kid posted from Rahman, NJ that coach Gattis was in house. Closest airports are JFK, LaGaurdia, Teterboro, and West Chester regional. First three are obviously all big expensive busy airports with passenger flights. West Chester is only an hour away and for smaller planes. There is a plane from west Chester to hickory at 4 tomorrow, landing around 5. West Chester is an hour from where Gattis supposedly is right now. If they were announcing him, he’d be getting to Boone very shortly after the board meeting let out.

Re: Board of trustees
In response to the tweet showing Gattis recruiting in Jersey, Ethan Joyce with the Winston Salem Journal tweeted that tomorrow’s meeting is a teleconference, meaning that Gattis doesn’t need to be in Boone and that his presence in Jersey tonight doesn’t rule him out.

And ... still no reason to go to Boone tomorrow when everyone is in Nola. I think if this plane were going to MSY then we could start etching his name in.

Re: Board of trustees
I really doubt our new coach goes to New Orleans. It’s Ivey’s show down there. I’d assume the new coach will be shoring up recruiting and assembling a new staff.

Re: Board of trustees
He may just be learning the ropes. After all, he is not officially our coach yet and he does not coach the D line at Bama. What did it hurt to finish up on a commit with the greatest coach in the game today. Maybe Saban promised to take him out for a celebration night in NYC..... lots of possibilities.
