Being Hickory without anything more than charter flights there could have been a slowness to refueling or such. I have no idea what ground crew stays at HKY but I assume it is more than pull up, load up and take off. I would at least want someone to walk around the plane and make sure nothing was lose. That could fall on the cabin crew. I imagine they jump off the plane for a few minutes to stretch their legs.
All Miami Air deals with is charters so they know what needs to be done and I imagine they fly into and out of many smaller airports that, like Hickory, is charter only. Someone is loading luggage, does that fall on the flight attendants or does HKY call is a crew for this one flight?
I am curious how all the logistics work for a charter in and out of a small airport without scheduled service works.

KHKY has more than charters so they have a ground crew. Right now they have nothing because weather knocked out a lot of flights.

I was reading a bit about HKY. They have about 180 flights a day on average but I bet most are flight school. They don't have scheduled service is what I was getting at but yes they do have a lot of activity there. They have a restaurant as well that is open is seems for breakfast and lunch though the menu does not mention breakfast items.
In 6th grade I remember touring the airport. At the time they had a NWS office and they let us go up into the tower. That would never happen now and I don't think even GSO has a NWS office now.
It is a shame there is not some scheduled flights from HKY to ATL or maybe even a short jump from HKY to ILM in the summer time. CLT is close enough to drive to but HKY to ATL or RDU looks like it could work to open up some options for residents in western NC.

I saw a huge (For HRA) yellow or light green plane approach about noon. Guess that was the
charter coming to pick up the champs.

The charter flew in from Chicago which came from Long Island which came from Boston, which headed out from Miami about two days ago based on Flightaware.com.

When I used to fly weekly for work, I used to always look up the plane I was riding. I would get a kick out seeing all the places it had been earlier that day, and where it was going.
