Let’s talk Coordinators
The Coach Drink news almost certainly means the end for the rest of the Satterfield leftovers in Boone. It’s possible we keep some, but I’d be surprised. Now we turn to the two most important hires left in the program, OC and DC.
For OC, the answer is easy, I hope we bring in Des Kitchings.
DC gets a little tough, I’m sure Drink has some connections.

Re: Let’s talk Coordinators
I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet that Drink will be calling his own plays, just like Satt. Assuming that’s the case, the number one quality I’m looking for in our “OC” is the ability to recruit.
That being said, Des Kitchings would be a phenomenal hire for App. He may be a bigger fish than we can actually reel in though depending what plays out at NCSU.
DC is a no brainer if he takes it, promote Mark Ivey

Ivey for DC ... it makes the most since and maybe him can Ivey can talk about it over a drink in Nola. Ivey would definitely stay on if asked. This might be the best way to win the players over too.
OC - well let him take his pick here. Clark could stay on but I bet he wants his own OC people.

We need recruiters now. NCSU all say Drink is an awful recruiter...he just doesn't recruit except QBs.

This. Would be really suprised to see him dissolve a defensive staff responsible for significant success over a three year spanasu7 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 12:06 pmIvey for DC ... it makes the most since and maybe him can Ivey can talk about it over a drink in Nola. Re: Let’s talk Coordinators
Reading up on Kitchings I think that would be a home run hire for OC. Like what was said above, Drink is calling his own plays so a stud recruiter would be huge for OC.
As far as DC, I hope Ivey would stay if offered. I'm thinking he would take that over being a position coach in Louisville but realistically he might get paid equally or more as a position coach there then here. Granted this would be a promotion technically but we saw what the allure of a p5 does.

I think we need to be prepared for Satt to pull more from the staff after the bowl game. I sure hope we can keep Ivey and Clark provided Drink wants to keep them. Miles to go before we sleep.

Re: Let’s talk Coordinators
No question this is a big decision and the first few hires need to be big time recruiters because they don't have much time right now in this early period. The good thing about this year is we don't have to pull in 17-20 recruits. This is the one year we can afford to have a smaller class.

Well, they have to WANT to work for the new guy also. It works both waysappstatealum wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 1:25 pmThis. Re: Let’s talk Coordinators
Doubt we have a true OC. It might be like the same set up as before with the former staff. I imagine that Pete Thomas would be in line to Coach the QBs

Clark and Ledford ran the show together and Ledford worked for Drink. I wouldn't be surprised if Clark stays on based on that connection.

Re: Let’s talk Coordinators
Also, if Drink sees this as a stepping stone, wouldn't be a good idea to change up the defense as that would require an adjustment period, and I imagine Drink wants to win right away. He'd need a 3-4 DC. Options would be Ivey, Woody and Sloan. I believe Ivey is the man.

Don't need a guy like that in Boone. Keep the character issues away.
