Seems high to start but was expected given his previous salary at NCSU. Just hope for the best.

It's a $450k base.. same that Satt had. He can earn up to $750k with bonuses.
The buy out is $450k multiplied by the number of years he has left on the contract.
EDIT - I'm actually now seeing differing reports. Looks like his base is still $450k, but also an additional monthly payout to get him to $750k. His bonuses could make it closer to $1 million

That is cheap ... I didn't think we were getting a coach for less than a mil. Love the buyout as well. If he leaves early we will be able to afford a good coach.

Would be interested to know how the buyout to be rec'd from UL for Satterfield is distributed within the athletic department. I would assume part goes to cover the cost of the search firm, but what of the leftover? Goes into salary pool for coaches/assistants/staff?

I give DG an A on the hire. P5 OC for the same we were paying Satt. I was expecting to have to pay a little more. Nice work!

You'll have to see how good the hire is. He was just a GA in 2012. It could be that the salary of the HC Position actually strapped on who they could offer the position to and they settled on Drunken.

Much much higher buyout than Satt with the multiple.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 3:36 pmIt's a $450k base.. same that Satt had. He can earn up to $750k with bonuses.

I saw that Neal Brown at Troy buyout drops to $200k in Jan which is very surprising.

EriCUsaid would only be happy if we hired Ruffin. Him and Hollywood Hulk.

Well, Drink was 28 in 2012, so being a GA sounds about right. We hired an OC from a P5 whos offense was ranked very high for the same price we were paying our old HC. I understand we have to see how it pans out, but how would you grade the hire?
Re: Coach Drink will make 750k per year. 5 year contract
No, he was actually RB coach at Arkansas State then. I’m sure it was his complete lack of ability that took him from that to P5 OC by ‘16.

*from the other thread that has gone off the rails**
Maybe Ericsaid is also enshrined in the hall of fame and thinks DG is a thinly veiled racist for not hiring McNeil.
He may not have been our first choice, but it’s still a great hire on paper. He may end up being better than our first choices. No way to know, but at least we went this route instead of UNCC’s route and getting a little known FCS coach.

I like the Hire. I just hope that App can get Ivey or Woody in Boone to maintain the defense. I love the idea of App opening up the offense at the FBS level for really the first time since Pistol became the new norm. Going under center, pistol, and some more sophisticated routes in the pass game should help Thomas and the offense take a step in efficiency. This year it seemed that the offense, if they couldn't run on first down, would have no hope of moving the ball outside of hitting a deep shot a couple of times.yosef13 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:01 pmWell, Drink was 28 in 2012, so being a GA sounds about right. More short and intermediate routes, give Thomas the freedom to adjust plays at the line, and spread the field. I like how Troy and Southern forces the defense wide by sending their guys to the sidelines and I'd like to see more of that. App's offense has been basic for quite some time and against good teams like Penn State and Tennessee, App couldn't convert in the end.
