Mark is in a very good place. He wins either way. He earned and deserves it. Same for Shawn. Good for them , and good for App.

If most any P5 comes calling we can’t compete with the cash they offer.

I am pleased with the job DG has done and our new HC hire. Now impress the hell out of all of App Nation by keeping this remaining coaching staff please.

I chanted “Ivey, Ivey ...” last night in the Super Dome, but if a better DC candidate can be found, I’d like to hire that man instead. It’s not always an after school special.

Our players carried Ivey off the field on their shoulders. You’d have to be a special kind of stupid to not keep him on.
As a new leader of any organization, the last thing you should do is axe the well liked people. That’s a good way to lose the trust of your guys right off the bat.

From what I heard, Drink already has a DC he wants to bring in. We staying with the 3-4 scheme though

DJ as in DJ smith? What about DJ as in Dale Jones? That guy has been here 23 years and churned our stud linebackers yearly, including DJ smithappstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 2:23 pmI don't have a name, unfortunately. What I took away from the info was Dale Jones... Of course, I could have misinterpreted.

He’s only been LB coach for a handful of those years. He’s been shuffled around to several spots. And he’s just ILB coach right now.The Rock wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 2:29 pmDJ as in DJ smith? I think it all boils down to how Drink wants to structure his staff. May not want 2 guys coaching LBs.

Re: Keep Ivey and as much of this current staff as possible
I just hope some of our fans don’t get upset when Ivey isn’t DC. The prospect already seems to be triggering people. “Special kind of stupid” etc. It would be stupid to make the second most important decision during this transition based on attachment and emotion.
Re: Keep Ivey and as much of this current staff as possible
Right. We have no reason to doubt Drink right now. Let the staffing choices play out. He needs the staff that works for him, not Satt or us. Even if guys leave, that doesn’t mean he’s an idiot or even made them go. Some guys don’t gel. That’s why so many left with Cobb to GSU. Gillin is very different from him, and it didn’t work for them.Gonzo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 2:42 pmI just hope some of our fans don’t get upset when Ivey isn’t DC. Re: Keep Ivey and as much of this current staff as possible
1.does Ivey have another offer?
2. Is it for a lot more?
3. Can we afford to up salaries?
4. Does him getting turned down create a problem?
5. Does his being there divide player loyalties?
6. If Coach D would be more comfortable with his guy?

According to Drinks own statement he plans on going multiple, not just 3-4. Not sure if App currently has the horses to align in a 4-3 look properly which is worrisome. If he has success, in two years he may be gone. No need t ok blow up the defense and I'm hopeful that he will l.j watch film from the past two seasons to see just how dominant the unit can be in the current scheme with current coaching.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 2:14 pmFrom what I heard, Drink already has a DC he wants to bring in. If I’m Drink I’m calling Nate Woody after he is let go tomorrow. I’d offer him what he made in 2017 and welcome him back to the mountain. Then I focus on keeping Clark.

Re: Keep Ivey and as much of this current staff as possible
And to be honest with you I'm glad those who left with Cobb are gone. Many of them were big egos and personality problems we did not need on the mountain anymore. The vibe in Boone is a lot better. Now, if Everts just would chill out because I heard she is trying to institute stuff that is not too great on academics side but Gillin seems to be in full control of athletics and I trust DG for sure.appgrad wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 3:19 pmRight.
