Re: DUCK
Going to the NFL draft early from a G5 program is much less common than what you see from the elite P5.

Re: DUCK
No.
1. G5 School
2. He's good. But he didn't have as great of a season as everyone was expecting from him.
I think he has potential to go to the NFL. But not early, for sure.

Re: DUCK
I don't think that would be an option for him, especially at a highly touted position like corner in a deep defensive draft year. I think his best option is to get his degree as a safety blanket if pro football doesn't end up working out and play another year to build film and relationships in the league. High risk/low-reward to leave right now.

Re: DUCK
It would be a massive mistake if he does. Duck is not very big and I would bet he does not go in the top 3 rounds right now so why come out early? Why be a late round pick when you can finish degree, possibly go to a NY6 Bowl, play in Senior Bowl, and play your way into the top 100? To me, it would be stupid to go early because the reward for coming back could be priceless in terms of not just the money but the legacy he could help leave here. Any player on our team who can return in 2019 and does not want to return is giving up something that could be special.

Re: DUCK
I'll bet money he plays in the NFL but getting drafted high and making it are two different things. Tae Hayes should get a shot and possibly make it but he is bigger than Duck. Stand near both of them and Hayes at least has some bulk. Duck is way too light right now. He needs to add some weight. Super thin frame right now. Tough as heck and fun to watch. He deserves to get drafted in 2020 as long as he stays healthy and has another good year.

Re: DUCK
At best, Duck is a Priority UDFA. At worst, he gets one "try out" ala Marcus Cox and never gets another shot. He doesn't really have the length to play outside in the NFL. He's got quickness and appears to be football intelligent, but there are many other guys like that in college football who can better fit in to a NFL scheme. The big MTSU running back would look small on a NFL field and he looked much larger than Duck.
If Duck can get up to 190 and a team likes his film enough to stash him on a practice squad, he might be able to work his way up after 2 or 3 seasons.

Re: DUCK
I'd bet money that Hayes plays in the NFL. Much of Duck's "size" is his shoulder pads. Put on a standard size and he shrinks to the smallest guy on the field at any one time. The Honey Badger is probably only a little bigger but he is given his own position in a defense due to his speed and tenacity. Duck has the tenacity and all the intangibles you could want at any level, but he likely is just below the cut-off physically.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 10:19 amI'll bet money he plays in the NFL but getting drafted high and making it are two different things. Another example of an undersized corner is Dante Jackson. Same story as the Honey Badger, elite speed and tenacity.

Re: DUCK
The Giants have a 5'9, 160 pound corner and there are some of Duck's size but there aren't many. I honestly think even with a big year Duck is a late round pick who makes it as a backup or a practice squad. He is a heck of a college player and great person from what people say. I hope that he overcomes the size by adding some weight and has a long career. He truly deserves it.ericsaid wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 10:32 amI'd bet money that Hayes plays in the NFL. Re: DUCK
I can almost guarantee Quack Attack will be back for one last season. He was All-SunBelt but didn't come up with the stats he wanted, especially in punt returning & Int's (not his fault though; QBs try to avoid him 24/7). Plus we're playing two P5 schools next year (lots of recruiters watching), have a shot at going undefeated & just might making it into the New Year's Six Bowl games. Who wants to miss that??
Re: DUCK
That’s my take. Has the skills, instincts, and the attitude. Just needs to add some mass!TIGMA15 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 10:24 amBased on this article he's tall enough to go to the combine, but needs another 10-20 pounds.

Re: DUCK
His resume, complimented with the fact Appalachian State Football is becoming even more known would get him drafted. I'd say between Rounds 5 & 7. Is it worth it? I personally don't think so in the long run. I will say he has a great chance to show what he can do against UNC and South Carolina. That can really help his stock. One more year in Boone never hurt anybody.

Re: DUCK
There's a pretty good QB in the NFL that was told the same thing
The mountains are calling and I must go

Re: DUCK
The CFL could also be an option. Especially, with Ed Gainey making an impact up north.ericsaid wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 10:29 amAt best, Duck is a Priority UDFA.
