Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Charlie Harbison doesn't have any direct Drink connections or Roof connections. He was at Auburn a few years after Drink and Roof had left.
This rules him out for me, but he would be a FANTASTIC hire. Excellent recruiting talent.

I thought he went there as well. Made me wonder if something crazy happened? That's why I posted and asked what others heard. I also thought Coach Gas was going to be DB coach?DoublySports wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 10:58 amIsn't he at GSU though? Would be one heck of a pickup. That's for sure.asacco1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 10:53 amCharlie Harbison?AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 10:35 amJust heard that we may be getting a DB coach who use to be at Alabama, Auburn, Lafayette, and has NFL experience. He is a minority with an impeccable reputation. If this person is indeed coming to Boone we may have just upgraded our secondary coaching. He and Greg will be a GREAT tandem. Anyone else able to confirm this?

I hear mixed things on him. People who were with him at Clemson thought he did a bad job but Lafayette, Alabama, LSU, etc. fans I know liked him. I was hoping Greg would be the DB coach because I think he is a rising star in coaching.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:36 amCharlie Harbison doesn't have any direct Drink connections or Roof connections. One will handle safeties and one will handle CBs. Rarely if ever these days do those 2 positions get coached by the same guy.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:38 amI hear mixed things on him. We don’t have enough vacancy to do that.Goapps15 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:48 amOne will handle safeties and one will handle CBs. Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
So, assuming Drink is going to act as the OC, with those 4 defensive assistants who would also be the DC? Does it just depend on the individual?Goapps15 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:59 amYes we do.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:52 amWe don’t have enough vacancy to do that.Goapps15 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:48 amOne will handle safeties and one will handle CBs. Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
only 4 D coaches concerns me as Drink is obviously an offensive minded guy. Generally the OC and DC have a position group as well, but there are 5 on each side or if 4 because the Head coach is on the side with 4 assistants. Brown had DC & CBs. Holt had Special Teams and RBs so if we split that something else has to be combined. 11 spots if you count head coach to cover position groups. they also have the grad assistants/quality control folks who could bring different skills to cover a seemingly overloaded role. Last year D coaches Brown DC & CBs, Gas Safeties, Jones Co-DC ILBs, Ivey Ast Head Coach/DL, Smith OLBs so 5. This is also in line with #10strong. Last year O coaches Ponce Co-OC QBs, Holt RBs & STs, Cardwell TEs, Watts WRs, Clark Co-OC & OL. Satt was also a offensive guy so allowing Holt to handle STs balanced it pretty well. SS likely is doing the same at L with Holt taking on TEs and STs. We'll have to wait and see, but 4 seems like a short handed D staff.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
I am thinking he is going with this after WR coach fell through. Was first thinking he might have QBs and RBs with one staffer helped by GA.
HC & play caller (has coached QBs, RBs, & TEs at times previously)
QB & WRs, - Dorsey (helped by HC) maybe also get Co-OC title
OL & Asst HC - Clark
TE & Recruiting - Watts
RB or WRs - TBD
ST - Link
DC & ILBs - Ceiling/TBD
Safeties & maybe CoDC - Gas
DL - TBD
OLB - Smith
CBs - TBD
Giving someone the whole secondary (4) or whole LB crew (4) is a lot to ask. DL at 3 or 4 is more manageable. Could also consider a TE/RB combo if we continue with some H back/full back looking sets. Could also see QB/TE combo by Drink/Dorsey and put Watts back outside with WRs.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Considering the length of time from when I know he was on campus and he still has yet to be announced....there may be something going on. I’d say the same goes with Roof.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Adams was making $185k his last year at Boise, not sure we had the price tag in the budget either. He would have had time to hang out in Boone and try to convince Drink to give him a job after WKU staff changes were known. Getting the total budget number with strong resume candidates may be more than can be done.

He probably made the mistake of reading this board and got his feelings hurt. I don't think my ego would survive it. LOL

Well until we have a DC announcement that it is or isn't him, we don't have much Ted Disproof.
