In honor of nearing 100 pages of mostly positive discussion about our football program, let's fill a few pages up with: Worst Restaurant in the High Country.

My vote: Peppers
This x 100

I have never understood why that restaurant has a following like it does. Don't people have microwaves at home and can make their own overpriced salad and sandwich?

Vote for worst for me is either Ransom (still upset over not having Murphys) or Sunrise

I have thoughts about Ransom. Murphy's was my last remaining go-to, and I not only hated to see it go, but I hated the way the new owner at first acted like it would be the same place with a new name, but then later changed up the menu.

With that said, I gave it a try out of necessity the last time I was in Boone on a game day, and I was sort of pleasantly surprised. The cheese fries (while they shouldn't have been messed with at all) were probably 85% as good as Murphy's, and the service once we got our table was surprisingly good. (The hosts still act like they're so overwhelmed that they basically discourage you from eating there when you arrive.)

Also, the renovations were a welcome change, as it's nice that the whole place doesn't look like one big health code violation anymore.

I'd have to say Bandana's...the food wasn't really that bad, but when the vastly superior Woodland's is 10 minutes away, why even bother?!

Pepper’s French Onion Soup is second to none. The rest of it I can make at my house.

Most overrated restaurant..... MacAdoos. Loved the cinnamon rolls, but why am I waiting forever for a table to eat sandwiches? And Daniel Boone Inn, of course,

Pepper's meatball sub is killer also, but the wait time is almost worse than the VA

Murphy's was also my go to and the last decent place in Boone for wings. The reason I have never eaten at Ransom and don't plan on it is exactly what you cited; don't buy a place and say it'll stay the same only to take 75% of the menu away later on and charge way more for everything. Pricing and limited selection will keep me out. Still got to find a decent wing place that's not a sports bar and super pricey though.

For those of us in school in the 70s and 80s Peppers was the place to go. The old location had character(has since been torn down). The Jean Lawson special was a legendary sandwich. I agree that it is not that good now but we still go there out of tradition.

Looking forward to the conclusion of this thread!

Bandanas was decent, then it became McKeithan Brothers and it was really good, now it’s BBQ, Burgers and Brews, and it’s not nearly as good. Pedallin’ Pig gives Woodlands a run for its money, but Woodlands is still the daddy.

When I was in school, Peppers was where you took your parents.

Now there was some late night eating!

The Pedaling Pig. Some of the worst BBQ I've had. Some of the best skins though.

Don’t know if this has been covered on here. But saw on the twitter today that it looks like Joseph Calcagni, former Tulsa QB and NCSU grad assistant is now working for us. Was out on the recruiting trail today. Assume he will be the GA working with QB’s. Not big news, but an update nonetheless.
