Anyone been back to black cat since the reopening?

Peppers French onion and carrot cake are both great. Steak fries too.

Miss the real Cottonwood dearly.

Yep, the menu and food are virtually identical and they've got a full liquor license now. The inside was spruced up a little but it still has that Black Cat vibe. All in all a solid transition.

Buzz City Sub Shop .Perfection.
Some of you guys are bringing back memories....
Buzz City, Chanelo's, Sollecito's, Buck's Biscuits, Holly Farms (Taters), Chuck's Steaks, Original Mountain house for breakfast.
Western Steer - Six ounce sirloin, Baked Potato unlimited salad bar...$5.00
Yogi's Turkey Grinder, Boone Drug for hot dogs.

Sorry to hear Pepper's doesn't seem to have its mojo anymore. Jack could cook a mean Prime Rib or steak. Claude would have the kitchen pumping it out. The Jean Lawson with a crock of french onion was my go to for a "quality meal" back in the day.
Parents night out restaurants for me - Peppers, Peddler, Makato's, Chuck's Steak and the old Daniel Boone inn

Anyone remember Ray's drive inn???

Hob Nob was one of my favorites. Black Cat and Melanie's were also pretty good. When Boone Drug was still around as a restaurant/drug store, I loved the atmosphere. Awesome milkshakes and decent burgers (switched to FARM when I was there, but I think it's back now?). Capone's for pizza was on point too...

I’ll admit I havent tried it, because a Mexican and Seafood restaurant in a former Golden Corral didn’t appeal to me, but I have heard from several good sources that Puerto Nuevo is the best most authentic Mexican in the HC.

Drive to 2000.

Boone Drug burgers and shakes were always on point.

Delores for wings (as has been covered) and used to love getting the pasta dishes from Joe's Italian.

I used to stop by Trolley Dog walking back from class during the week. For "women who prefer women" they really knew their way around a weiner.

Mike's Inland Seafood at the old location downtown. Beer and a dog on the deck at Holly's in BR on a Friday was just about the best.

I don't think it's the most authentic, but it's the best mexican food in Boone now, beating out Los and Dos (for Americanish mexican food). The most authentic is the little place past Ingles on 105 (Taqueria El Paso) and oh man it's tasty.

I def. miss the burgers from Boone Drug, does FARM still serve something similar?

Have to so far. Losing a coach is not a bad thing. Drink left NC State to make more money as the App State HC. He will leave next year if someone offers him double the salary. Just how it is. Don't think we can judge him poorly for this and I have no reason to.

What I will judge him on is our record, whether the culture remains intact, and graduating our players. Whether we lose a coach, finish #1 in total offense in the SBC, or anything else does not matter. Win the SBC, double digit games, and a bowl game and we all should be happy with him then.
I'm not here to tell you how to form your opinions, but if you are going to look at success solely on the overall record, then you are certainly going to be disappointed at some point. Winning a football game is tough, winning them on the road is tougher. There are many variables that have to work in your favor on a daily basis that affect the outcome. What happens on Monday and Tuesday of game week as an effect on the Saturday outcome. If you don't want to recognize that then so be it. But all of those points that you mentioned above that "don't matter" are the precise ingredients that make double digit wins possible.
Those stats are ideal if you are an OC because that is your job but as HC your job is to win games and be good in all 3 phases. Those gaudy stats did NC State no good as they did not win the ACC, did not win double digit games, and did not win their bowl game. I'm happy to have Drink because of what he did as OC and I hope we can do that as well but if we just win 7-8 games with gaudy offensive stats then those stats mean nothing. I want to hang banners, see the kids and coaches wearing rings, and cement ourselves as the first SBC team to finish the season ranked.

Hopefully we can lead the SBC in offense, defense, wins, and finish undefeated but if I had to pick just one of those 3 things I will take undefeated.

I haven't been able to drink the Cottonwood Pumpkin for a while now. Definitely not the original recipe. I can't believe they sold pitchers of that stuff back in the day, it was really good, but the end result was really bad.

I would be ok waiting a little bit for new hire as long as we are able to retain them. The coaches and team are probably ready for announcement though.

Right on. Taqueria El Paso is as close to the real deal there is in the High Country.

In honor of nearing 100 pages of mostly positive discussion about our football program, let's fill a few pages up with: Worst Restaurant in the High Country.

My vote: Peppers
This x 100

I have never understood why that restaurant has a following like it does. Don't people have microwaves at home and can make their own overpriced salad and sandwich?

Vote for worst for me is either Ransom (still upset over not having Murphys) or Sunrise
Peppers at the old location was great, and that has carried them a long way with older alumni. Now the Jean Clawson costs like $12 and is just not that good anymore. Some stuff is good, but everything is overpriced. It's a tourist joint.
