Conley doesn’t seem to be getting a warm reception from Louisville fans. Stinks, I hope the kid holds up OK under the pressure.

At some point everyone will realize that at this level of the game 247 ratings, or any other recruiting site, just simply do not matter. They’re objectively bad at grading players that aren’t 4 or 5 star players.

Re: VERY worried about the state of our recruiting class this year.
I hope our future coaches know how to find the kind of players we have recruited the past 5 years. Good academically, with emphasis on speed over size, good tacklers, coachable players, demonstrate strong work ethic, always striving to get better as people, willing to give their all on the field, accountable to each other on and off the field = APP STATE FOOTBALL = WINNERS.
GIVE 'EM HELL APPS!

Damn. Looks like the P5 is getting the hang of this whole early signing day thing.

Believe I've said that several times this year. The P5's got caught by surprise last year and there was no way it was going to happen again. Now we have to do our own adjustments. The new staff has to play the game by a whole new set of rules.

Am I the only one who wouldn’t be surprised if we have a guy with the name “Finley” taking snaps at App State in a few years?

Would or wouldn't? Cause I wouldn't be surprised... Ryan Finley's younger brother could very well decide he likes mountains over the city life.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:34 pmAm I the only one who would be surprised if we have a guy with the name “Finley” taking snaps at App State in a few years?

Re: VERY worried about the state of our recruiting class this year.
Average Rating has App in 4th. App has few scholarship players to replace and the way recruiting should be looked at is how it impacts the overall look of the roster. This is a good class with all but one guy as a three star as rated by 247 Composite. No need to be worried.FTE_rawr wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 11:20 amYa'll forgive me, im all over the internet this morning and everything I'm seeing is worrying the hell out of me.
Were ranked 9th in the SBC when it comes to this years recruiting, regardless of our successes.
We just lost the guy who (I'm pretty sure) was supposed to be the guy to replace Zac when he graduates.
Pretty much all of our top prospects flipped as well.
I'm trying not to panic, and I know we've got a good team here now, but what do we do? We can't afford to skimp a year on recruiting.
EDIT: The rest of the SBC is getting some REALLY good talent.

I'm a little worried too, apparently in Raleigh he only wanted to deal with recruiting QBs. That won't cut it here, the HC needs to be out on the trail, in people's living rooms, for every position.

Re: VERY worried about the state of our recruiting class this year.
I've read a few boards on this message board saying this. The only way I see that happening is if Ty Evans who is one of the top qb recruits drink got to flip from colorado to state starts next year and Finley doesn't see an opportunity where he'll play. He watched his brother become the man on campus in Raleigh and now he's going to get drafted. I know Drink and Ryan were great friends but I just don't see why the little brother would want to flip here.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:39 pmWould or wouldn't? Probably the single most useless ranking there is. 18 year old kids from different schools who are in high school and have not even practiced on a collegiate level. Let the mountain work it’s magic

EDIT: The rest of the SBC is getting some REALLY good talent.
1. We were never going to sign more than 15 anyway because we just did not have many scholarships to give.
2. Our class was only rated high once, as others said, and that was actually the worst class we ended up having. The last 3 classes were top 40 caliber in all of college football, based on talent not stars.
3. Go look at where Jalin Moore, Cam Peoples, Clifton Duck, and the rest of our top players were listed in our class and you will see our best player is usually the lowest rated on 247. They truly have no clue what they are watching and our coaches do, thankfully.
4. I thought Conley was pretty good but he is probably more like Peyton Derrick and was going to be a good backup. He has basically no OL and very little talent so he is going to take his lumps and may have to worry about staying healthy whereas had he come to App he would have been healthy for sure and been able to redshirt. He is likely going to be thrown into the fire quickly at Louisville.

Re: VERY worried about the state of our recruiting class this year.
Even with the coaching change and poaching of one QB recruit by Satt, App has signed 9 quality players in the early period, many of which are early qualifiers. App has 3 or 4 openings available and it might not be a bad thing that the new coaching staff has a little time to make their assessments of the team's needs before filling those openings during the regular signing period early next year. App got a lot of quality young men today and I'm pretty excited about them as they all WANT to be part of the Mountaineer family! Please welcome each and every one to The Rock!!

We'll be fine. We've never been a magnet for blue chips and have managed well despite it.
