2022 Schedule

I just noticed that our schedule for 2022 on Appstatesports.com shows the will be playing The Citadel. FBSchedules shows Akron. Pretty sure we use to list Akron on Appstatesports.com, guess we wanted an easier home game that year since we're playing at Texas A&M, @ Marshall & home against UNC.

I just saw that too. Don’t know what happened to Akron. Never saw any announcement.

I don’t know that’s an easier game.

Akron still showing at App state on their future schedule page for 9/24/2022. Seems we may have published a change before it has been officially announced. Only OOC game zips have on 2022 plan.

Texas A&M just signed had the third ranked recruiting class behind Alabama and Georgia. O My! Whoever our schedule maker is always seem to schedule the big boys on their upside: Clemson, Georgia, Penn St.

Right. I know. We play anybody, anytime, anywhere. That could be a good look into what a G5 versus a playoff team might be.

And what if half of those guys don't qualify, transfer in 1-2 years, or quit football due to medical and they only have 7-8 seniors stick from that group? That big time class could easily become nothing much. It could also end up being the best. We just don't know. No reason to waste time debating something that could change completely. It is like coaching hires. You never know until 2-3 years later how it is going to look.

How are we going to join the SEC or ACC if we don't beat these P5 teams! ;)

After 2007 I go into any game thinking we can win but that 2022 schedule is going to be rough and it will be all Drink’s kids. That’s the schedule that will either make him or break him. If he wanted a test he’s gonna get one.

That's just what has been happening at Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson over the last several years. They sign the top classes and it seldom works out.

Seriously, A&M is a sleeping giant about to awaken. They have more money than most all other athletic budgets. They hired Jimbo to get them to the promised land, and they could be there about the time we play them.

A&M has a ton of money and should NEVER lose to us or anyone else in college football but Texas if you are talking about money. Just look at how much they bring in yearly and if it was always about money they would win the NC or finish top 3 every single year.

Yes, those 3 teams are signing top classes but it is more that they do a great job of picking the right guys and the recruiting services are putting them high.

Go look at the classes from 2015 and 2016. In 2016 LSU was 2 and FSU was 3. FSU was 3 and LSU was 5 in 2015. One is not even ranked and the other is not in the top 10. So don't take it for granted. My point is that A&M could be a top 5 team that year (not saying they won't be) or they could be like FSU and unranked. Let's give it time. Hopefully their class turns out to be more like a 25-35 type rather than top 5. If it indeed pans out then we could be in big trouble but that is so far out that it is really pointless to worry about right now.

If you want to look at how the teams have ranked then take a look for yourself: https://247sports.com/Season/2015-Footb ... mRankings/

FYI, MTSU was ranked ahead of us by a good bit in those years and we just pounded them big time. I don't give a crap about those ratings. Alabama will get the top class every year until AFTER they lose. If the websites really know their stuff then they will have Alabama outside of the top 5 2-3 straight years BEFORE they don't make the playoffs in the future.

You could end up being right about what you said but you seem to think it is a given and it is not. They could fire Jimbo and be a 5 win team when we play them or Jimbo could be looking for his second straight NC and 3rd straight playoff appearance by that time. Let's get there before you start crowning them.

Not crowning anyone, just making the comment we seem to catch our P5 opponents at their apex and A&M is setting up to be there when we arrive in College Station.

A&M is #1 according to Forbes

The only way we get to top is by playing top 25 teams and win. We have to keep scheduling quality opponents while we continue building our program stronger year over year. Notre Dame got to CFP by playing top 25 opponents and winning. Our SBC opponents will have to be our weaker opponents in the future and OOC opponents where we get the real strength of schedule credit.

Let’s keep rising and be ready to kick butt in 2022.

I'm not sure why we ever schedule outside NC boarder states.

I love that we’re playing at iconic stadiums like Kyle Field, Camp Randall, and Happy Valley. If it were TTU, Minnesota, and Pitt we were playing I’d agree. Although we may have a P5 win if we were playing those three compared to who we have scheduled.

Are you serious? We want to be a national brand now and therefore should broaden our opponents likewise.

UNC, NCSU, Duke, Wake, ECU, USC, Clemson, UGA, GT, UT, Vandy, UVA, and Va Tech, that's plenty.
