Mo Bamba at ball games

Unread post by appfan1991 » Thu Dec 27, 2018 5:05 pm

I've heard others on this board and BGP talking about Mo Bamba lyrics. Here they are - see if they make you proud - see if these are words you want blaring out of the jumbo scoreboard speakers - see if these are words you want your 5 year old singing to their friends after hearing them at our game. If this board will not post them then they have no business being played at our games.

With as much emphasis as our university is currently placing on words - like "freshman" - I do not understand why they allow the degrading words of this song to be played at our sporting events(was played multiple times during the championship game and not censored). We're better that this. You can fill in the blanks (hope I got them all).

The only thing I ever heard was the beat, never heard or figured out words. I don't know what's so great or bad about it from just hearing it at the game.

If it gets the kids hyped up, then whatever..... I prefer Fuel by Metallica, RUTS by Andy Mineo or something like that, but I'm down with any song with a hype beat.

You can tell it is off-season, as fans are finding the absolute dumbest stuff to complain about. It's like clockwork with this fanbase, getting bored and finding something to complain about. Why not let people like or dislike what they like? It's a wild concept, but people are allowed to have different opinions and tastes in different things! Let bygones be bygones and live and let live, dude.

What's dumb about pointing out lyrics used at our ball games which use _igga and call women whores? What's dumb is allowing this crap at university games.

1. They have censored every last bit of that out at these games, I can guarantee it, as I was at every football game this season. They're not playing the N word all over the stadium, so stop acting like they are.
2. As much as it might pain some people to hear it, these student athletes don't get pumped up by "Mountain Music" or "Back in Black," but they get pumped up by what is on the radio now. If pumping them up will win the game, then blast it.

I attended all home games - it seemed to be censored well during regular season games but during the championship there was no censoring - if there was it did not work. Just seems with the lyrics scattered with so many obscenities the university would ditch it.

Anything done at the Championship game was not App's doing. App didn't control the music, the graphics, anything. They had to hand it over to the Sun Belt, so whatever happened at that time was on the conference, not on App. App has class, but that doesn't mean mistakes aren't made by those we associate ourselves with.

The song sucks. The genre sucks. This is my last post on the matter.

I’m not an old man. I mean, I am compared to a current App student, but I wasn’t raised on Pat Boone at sockhops. I like plenty of music with filthy lyrics, and if you combed my Spotify history, you’d find a fair amount of hip-hop.

All that said, I honestly thought this song was one big troll job. Shock Wes, the fans, the critics who praised it... I thought everyone was in on the joke.

Song is garbage. I don’t mean because it’s filthy. I mean because it’s terrible. The beat is an earworm that I find myself humming, but the rest is so weak I *honestly* thought everyone was in on the joke.
