Just from a quick glance, it looks to me like their sole criteria is the team's won/loss record. For teams in better conferences, this undervalues them; and for the winners in lesser conferences, this overvalues them. In other words, there appears to be no consideration for strength of schedule.
So, an accurate predictor it is not. But, I still like it.
And, check out S&P+ rankings where App is ranked #11 in the latest poll thru 1/7/19. That poll is an amazingly accurate predictor of head to head matchups. By amazingly accurate, I mean better than 50%.
